FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE COUNTING CROWS 2018 “25 YEARS AND COUNTING” WORLDWIDE TOUR WITH MULTI-PLATINUM BAND +LIVE+ COMING TO THE MYSTIC AMPHITHEATER SEPTEMBER 16 Tickets on Sale April 6 PRIOR LAKE – APRIL 2, 2018 – Counting Crows are bringing their “25 Years and Counting” tour with special guest +LIVE+ to Mystic Lake’s outdoor Mystic Amphitheater at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 16. After more than two decades and 20 million albums sold globally, Counting Crows will celebrate 25 years of making music by hitting the road for a worldwide “25 Years and Counting” tour, starting with a 40+ city trek across North America this summer including a stop at Mystic Lake. Joining the tour is multi-platinum band +LIVE+. "The nice thing about having 25 years of music to celebrate and seven studio albums we absolutely love to choose from is that we can play a different show every night,” said Crows vocalist Adam Duritz. “The nice thing about touring with +LIVE+ is that we get to spend yet another summer with old friends who play great music. The fact that we will be sharing the stage once again with the incomparable Counting Crows is icing on the cake!” In addition to celebrating 25 years of music in 2018, Duritz has also launched a new podcast, “Underwater Sunshine!”—a series of conversations between noted non-journalist Duritz and his pal, author and music journalist James Campion, about life, music, and whatever comes into their large and incredibly handsome brains.

13 Darling One – Cracker/Adam Duritz/Susanna Hoffs/Mark Linkous: A Sunny Song/ ... Page 1 of 3 13 Darling One – Cracker/Adam Duritz/Susanna Hoffs/Mark Linkous: A Sunny Song/A Shady Backstory This song appears on the latest Cracker Album “Sunrise In The Land of Milk and Honey” (2009). But the song is quite old. It was written by Mark Linkous and I in 1993 or 1994. Perhaps it is fitting that this pretty song appears on a Cracker album that is about things being not what they seem. The sun comes up and in the light of day their is a bit of a reckoning. I’m not talking about the song itself. The song is an innocent bystander. The tiny seed of negativity is in the backstory. It involves some shady business dealings with this song. MARK LINKOUS But first let’s talk about the song. The song itself is on the surface a simple love song. It rocks but has an undertone of soul to the the arrangement. At least the Cracker version. Marks original version reminded me more of something from one of Neil Youngs rock records. Not much to say about the story in the song except it is one in which the protagonist wishes to relieve his loves emotional burdens. Of course there is a deeper meaning. Mark Linkous is really speaking about himself. He wishes he could stop “looking for something that’s not lost”. He wants the burden of his depression, the gnawing dissatisfaction and unhappiness lifted from his soul. Mark wrote the majority of this song.

Counting Crows, Hootie & the Blowfish set to open The 155 th Great Allentown Fair Dual bill of alt rock bands play on Fair’s Preview Night August 28 For Immediate Release Allentown, Pa .Counting Crows and Hootie & the Blowfish, two rock bands that took turns dominating the radio waves in the ‘90s, will open The 155 th Great Allentown Fair on August 28. Tickets for this show go on sale Saturday, June 2. They are $50 and $45. A newcomer to the Fair, Counting Crows’ recording period yielded such fan favorites as “Round Here,” “Mr. Jones,” “Rain King,” “A Long December” and a remake of Joni Mitchell’s song “Big Yellow Taxi.” In 2003, the band scored an Oscar nomination with “Accidentally in Love” from the Shrek 2 soundtrack. Regarded as an exceptional band that routinely alters its standard sets and song arrangements to keep each live show unique, the Crows’ vivacious performances are punctuated by lead singer Adam Duritz’s passionate vocals and engaging stories on stage. Last summer’s CD release, “New Amsterdam: Live at Heineken Music Hall 2003,” apparently reminded Crows’ followers of the band’s live performance magnetism. Paired with the Goo Goo Dolls, they hit the road selling an average of 10,000 tickets a night for one of the most successful tours in 2006. The Bay Area band is made up of Adam Duritz, David Immergluck, David Bryson, Jim Borgios, Charles Gullingham Dan Vickrey, and Millard Powers. 2 Hootie & the Blowfish exploded on the music scene in 1994 with its album “Cracked Rear View” going platinum 16 times.

After selling nearly five million copies of their 1993 debut album, August and Everything After, the Counting Crows quickly became one of the more auspicious rock groups to emerge in the l 90s. By writing an album reminiscent of \ I great classic rock works, the band has become a favorite as well as an inspira- tion for many. Their debut release was followed by a long tour in promotion of the album. The t touring took its toll on the band mem- bers, especially Duritz. He needed to "get away from the fame and from writ- J ing music for a while." Soon after the tour's completion, he moved to Los f Angeles and tended bar with some friends at the Viper Room. It wasn't until the summer of '95 that the band's primary songwriter became inspired again.
