  • Fatima. the Place. the Message
OBSERVANCE OF THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY AT FATIMA, PORTUGAL FATIMA. THE PLACE. THE MESSAGE. This year marks the 100th anniversary of arguably the most consequential private revelations in the history of the Church. Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal, on six occasions, between May and October 1917, delivering a message that, to this day, converts hearts and casts shivers down the spine. Dressed in white and “brighter than the sun,” Mary spoke to the children of the dire costs if the world continues to reject God. She foretold events that would soon come to pass. She showed them a vision of hell. She taught them that God has designs for each of us. Six Popes have since proclaimed her specific and decisive call to conversion and repentance. As his two predecessors did before him, Pope Francis, who had his papacy dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima upon his election in 2013 – and who subsequently consecrated the world to her – will underscore Fatima’s significance with a visit there in May to mark the centennial. Fatima – 100 years ago a tiny hamlet, and now one of the most visited Christian pilgrimage locations in the world – is synonymous with the message Our Lady delivered there. At its core, the message is this: Without God, humanity walks in darkness, and we, individually, are called to be players in the salvation of the world. ‘Queen of Peace, pray for us.’ It was all as if Heaven had seen enough. Our Lady put her foot down during the horrors of World War I, what Pope Benedict XV called the “suicide of Europe.” It was Pope Benedict, who on May 5, 1917, ordered that “Queen of Peace, pray for us” be added to the Litany of Loreto.

  • In Fatima on the 8Th Day of the Novena
The Message of Fatima 100th Anniversary – 2017 1914-Apparition At 7 years old I (Lucia) began tending our flock of sheep. One day as we (Lucia & some friends) saw for the 1st time a figure that had a human shape, whiter than snow and which the sun turned transparent. This apparition recurred twice again without manifesting itself and always suspended in the air, over the wood at the bottom of the “Cabezo.” When questioned by her mother, “As I did not know how to explain clearly and to free myself from questions, I replied that it looked like someone wrapped in a very white sheet.” 1st 1916 Apparition of the Angel After quickly praying the rosary Lucia dos Santos with cousins Francisco & Jacinta Marto started to play a game. “We were feeding our flocks in a property belonging to my parents called “Chousa Velha,” which lies at the bottom of a hill called “Cabezo,” on the east side. It was there that the Angel appeared to us for the 1st time in the form of a youth, as white as snow, shining more brightly then the sun and as transparent as crystal. We began to see this light coming towards us and thus we gradually distinguished the features. We were taken by surprise and being half bewildered we did not say a word. On reaching us he said, “Don’t be afraid. I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me!” And kneeling down, he bowed his forehead to the ground and made us repeat these words three times: My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee! I beg pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You.” “Pray thus.

  • ROSARY Tuesday – the Sorrowful Mysteries (In Families)
13 / 10 / 2020 THE HOLY ROSARY Tuesday – The Sorrowful Mysteries (In Families) Suggestions: 1. It would be ideal that the family altar, that is adored with the Statue of Our Lady, be lighted and be adorned with flowers. 2. It is advisable that the various parts are assigned to different members of the family well in advanced. 3. An appropriate verse of a Marian Hymn may be sung between the decades. Or, it could be ‘The Prayer of Mary at Fatima’. 4. This service is meant to be conducted in the family. Please do not assemble at the ward crosses, nor in SCC’s nor any other place outside the house. 5. It is our desire that this service reaches every home. Hence you may forward it to others by WhatsApp, E-Mail, etc. 6. This series (9th – 16th October 2020) is prepared by the Diocesan Catechetical Centre; and coordinated by the Diocesan Centre for Liturgy, Old Goa. To subscribe to them free of cost WhatsApp your name on: +91 9518352793. Please do not make any calls to subscribe. Preparation ❖ It would be ideal that the family gathers around the family altar or near your grotto. ❖ A little decoration and more lit candles will add fervour and will create an atmosphere of prayer. ❖ If possible, keep incense sticks ready. And add a little incense after each decade. ❖ Allot members to read the Biblical passages and the glimpses of Fatima. • THE TRUE STORY of FATIMA Introduction
THE TRUE STORY OF FATIMA Father John de Marchi, I.M.C, Introduction Through no gift of the author's, but by the divine power, this is one of the very great stories of modern times. The remarkable events occurring near Fatima, Portugal, in the months from May to October, 1917, gain significance and new meaning with every passing day; the friends and followers of Our Lady of Fatima, for whom this volume speaks, increase each year by numberless legion in prayerful certitude that what we are revealing here is true. The author is a witness to this truth, having lived at Fatima for many years, and this plain book's pretension to importance is that it is able to present for the first time to Americans the full and documented background against which God has written His own prescription for peace. Much of this account is lovely and can be counted on to fulfil almost anyone's story- book expectations, as it tells of the shepherd children, Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco. But it is also a divinely serious narrative recalling, to the likely discomfort of many, the reality of heaven and hell, and bringing to necessary attention other primary matters too often and too long placed out of mind. It is hoped that this book, in its completeness, will provide a kind of text on Fatima, and the author feels obliged, in the face of such ambition, to list the documents on which it has been based. I have used the Portuguese newspapers of the period, especially the Seculo, the Diario de Noticias, and the Mundo, all at the time important pro-government journals, anticlerical in both policy and tone.
