Minutes of Coxwold Annual Parish Meeting Wednesday 15th May 2019 1. Present: Cllrs. Le Gassicke (Chair), Robinson, Richardson, Rheinberg and Hewitt Acting Clerk Wyn-Jones County Cllr. Patmore Parishioners Perry and Le Gassicke 2. Apologies for absence: Dr. Tune 3. Introduction to the Parish Cllrs. for 2019-2020 (see above) 4.Minutes of the Annual Parish Meeting 23rd. May 2018: These were passed as a true record. 5. Matters Arising Reference Description Action a)Traffic management A report was tabled by Cllr. Robinson. J Rob. There has been very little reduction in speed of SLG vehicles through the village and very little SR police presence. The planned question and answer session with the local MP did not occur and did not address the issues raised. Highways have been difficult to contact and unhelpful. A site visit has been arranged with one of the engineers for the 22nd. May to look at the proposed siting for the Vehicle Activated Sign it is planned to purchase. The max. cost will be £4650.00 plus VAT. ( VAT recoverable). A grant application will be completed. A sub-committee of the P.C. has been established to investigate traffic issues further. This will include looking at the types of vehicles passing through the village. It is also proposed to look at the Oulston to Yearsley road with respect to the number of HGVs using it and the width of the road.. Oulston and Yearsley Parish meeting representatives to be contacted Chris Stratton and Mick Eleonor. b)CVH building project Now completed at an approx.. cost of £70k. This was half funded through self-generated funds and half by successful grant applications. 7. Statement of Accounts This was endorsed and agreed MJH 8.Report from North Yorkshire This was presented by County Cllr. Patmore. Bridge Club Average attendance 19 but always in groups of SLG four. 12.Any other Business Cobbles outside Alma House are subsiding as CW-J the gravel is being washed away by heavy rain. The Hambleton and Howardian Hills CAN DO (Cultural and Natural Development Opportunity) Partnership The CAN DO Partnership is based around a common vision and shared aims to develop: An area of landscape, cultural heritage and biodiversity excellence benefiting the economic and social well-being of the communities who live within it. The organisations and agencies which make up the partnership have defined a geographical area which covers the south-west corner of the North York Moors National Park and the northern part of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The individual organisations recognise that by working together resources can be used more effectively, achieving greater value overall. The agencies involved in the CAN DO Partnership are – the North York Moors National Park Authority, the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, English Heritage, Natural England, Forestry Commission, Environment Agency, Framework for Change, Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber, Ryedale District Council and Hambleton District Council. The area was selected because of its natural and cultural heritage diversity which includes the highest concentration of ancient woodland in the region, a nationally important concentration of veteran trees, a range of other semi-natural habitats including some of the most biologically rich sites on Jurassic Limestone in the county, designed landscapes, nationally important ecclesiastical sites and a significant concentration of archaeological remains from the Neolithic to modern times. However, the area has experienced the loss of many landscape character features over the last fifty years including the conversion of land from moorland to arable and the extensive planting of conifers on ancient woodland sites.

The Village Trust are also looking for ideas from you about future spending on projects for the village. The good news of the opening of the pub, named once again “ The Plum and Partridge” takes us forward to a new opportunity for food and drink in pleasant surroundings, a few steps from home. We wish the new owners the very best, and hope the village and surrounding area support them. There are some summer reading suggestions for book lovers. More please for the next edition. We have as usual an interesting history society article, from Angela,and an update from the Parish Council with their recent meeting minutes and annual summary.
