  • You Go Ahead, Cause Its Making Me Laugh... by Fausto Sala - Vice President FISSC
Year Number Jan - Mar 2 1 2012 You go ahead, cause its making me laugh... by Fausto Sala - Vice President FISSC “Olimpico” stadium in Rome, Sunday 5 February 2012. Around the 20 minute of the first half of Roma-Inter in South stand appeared a banner which read: “All at 15: the nature of things, by nature force”. As everybody knows the match was scheduled to be played on Saturday at 20.45, then anticipated at 15 and at last moved at the same time on Sunday, in contemporary with all other matches in serie A as the tradition was back in the past. Thus the roman fans wanted to underline this fact and their consent for the traditional shcedule of matches, remarking as only the snow emergency had forced the hands of those in command to revert to old habits of italian football fans. We can repeat until boredom that playing at night in the coldest days of the year is madness. Yet since January 18 up to February 5, between league and national cup, 21 matches at night have been programmed and out of these 19 in the north between Bergamo, Milan, Torino or Novara. But you think that who decides does not know such facts? But more the Lega is criticised, and more who guides the Lega continues to be bend to the will of the television networks who now have absolute power to decide the time in which games are playes, having tv rights now constitute the main income for the clubs. Thus the only concern of the Lega in these last seasons, whose president Maurizio Beretta has resigned since March of last year since he now passed to a top managerial post within UniCredit, was to see how to divide between the clubs the income coming from these rights with the consequent effect of half-empty stadiums to the benefit of sitting in cosy armchairs and sofas at home.

The odds may favour the Azzurrini, but Belarus can take heart from having achieved the feat once before, when recording a surprise 2-1 win over Italy at the 2004 finals in Germany. • Italy are strongly placed to reach the semi-finals, with four points to their name following a draw with Serbia and victory over Sweden. A win against Belarus would tie up first place for Pierluigi Casiraghi's side and they would even qualify with a low-scoring defeat – by two goals or less – if the group's other game between Serbia and Sweden ended in a draw. • After losing to Sweden and drawing with Serbia, Belarus have no such luxury – it is win or bust for the eastern European side. • If they beat Italy, Belarus would be guaranteed a semi-final place on the head-to-head rule so long as there was a winner in the Serbia-Sweden game. In the event of a Sweden-Serbia draw, they must beat Italy by three clear goals, given that this would leave them level with the Italians and Swedes on four points with head-to-head results, then goal difference the first two deciding factors.

  • FC Barcelona V Werder Bremen PRESS KIT
FC Barcelona v Werder Bremen PRESS KIT Camp Nou, Barcelona Tuesday, 22 November 2005 - 20:45 CET Group C - Matchday 5 FC Barcelona, now assured of their place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League having gained a 5-0 win against Panathinaikos FC on Matchday 4, would be wrong to underestimate the challenge of Werder Bremen, who have collected four points from their last two games to put themselves in contention for a qualifying berth. Tight race •The German team began the Group C campaign with successive defeats, the first of which came against Barcelona, who struck in either half through Deco and Ronaldinho to launch a sequence which has seen the Spanish champions drop just two points in their first four games. •However, a draw away at Udinese Calcio, followed by a thrilling 4-3 home victory against the same side three weeks ago with Johan Micoud scoring twice, has boosted morale in the Bremen squad. They have the same number of points - four - as both the Italian club and Panathinaikos, so it promises to be a close and exciting race for the other qualifying berth. Eto'o hat-trick •No doubt Bremen, competing in the UEFA Champions League for the third time, would prefer this particular fixture had not come so soon after Barcelona had just run in five goals against the Greek team with Samuel Eto'o celebrating a hat-trick and Mark van Bommel and Lionel Messi also on the scoresheet in a scintillating first half. It leaves Barcelona needing just one more point to win Group C.
