As Head Teacher, I hope that our partnership will be productive and enjoyable and that your child settles quickly with us. We take pride in the fact that this is a happy and industrious school with a real sense of team spirit. We hope that your child enjoys his/her time at New Pitsligo and St. John’s School. The education of a child is far too important to be left to a school alone. Parents have a very important part to play too. The school handbook explains what you can expect of the school and also indicates what the school expects of you in the way of partnership, help and support. New Pitsligo & St. John’s School is a non-denominational school with a role of 126. The school serves the village of New Pitsligo and the surrounding area. Devolved budgets are managed in accordance with authority guidelines in order to support planned improvements in the school. The School in Context New Pitsligo & St John’s School serves the village of New Pitsligo and its surrounding rural area. The village is situated about 14 miles from Fraserburgh and 12 miles from Mintlaw and has a few shops and small businesses. The current School roll is 107 with 24 in the Nursery. On leaving New Pitsligo and St.John’s Primary School, most children transfer to Mintlaw Academy as part of Mintlaw Community Schools Network (CSN). Within the Mintlaw CSN all services operate as a team in order to ensure that each child has the opportunity to maximise their full potential. The school building has six teaching areas made up of four classrooms and a large open plan infant area. There is also a nursery. It has accommodation for a gym, music/television/library area and houses the Mintlaw Cluster SEBN enhanced provision. Lunch is taken in a separate dinner hall. Our curriculum will be based around the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence – to ensure our pupils are successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.
