PROPER USAGE PROPER Type 27: 15˚ - 45˚ GRINDING ANGLES The optimal grinding angle for a 1/4" Type 27 grinding wheel is between 15 and 30 degrees. Generally speaking, the steeper the grinding angle, the more aggressive the cut. Grinding at lower angles can prolong life, but will compromise cut rate. When grinding shallow on harder materials, chatter and vibration can become a factor. When lower grinding angles are required, consider a Type 28 grinding wheel. Non-woven products resist loading and perform consistently as new, fresh abrasive grains are exposed as the nylon fibers wear away from the product during use. Non-woven abrasives can be used either wet or dry on a range of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, ceramics, plastics, composites, and wood. Non-woven products are designed for use where stock removal is not required. Non-wovens begin where coated abrasives leave off.
