RE: HITS Quantum Platform – Compression Upgrade
Dear HITS Affiliate,
HITS is pleased to announce we will be performing a compression upgrade to both the QSD and QHD platforms in 2nd Quarter of 2019.
HITS will be performing upgrades to the HITS Quantum™ on all QSD and QHD multiplexes beginning April 1, 2019. This upgrade will allow for an increase of available services (16:1) on QSD multiplexes as well as on QHD multiplexes (5:1). This will result in the realignment of services currently located on QSD 13 and QSD 14 (SES- 11/13), as well as, services on QHD 11 (transponder 11/14). Signals will remain DVB-S2 compression technology and your current DSR-4410MD receivers will be compatible with this upgrade. To finalize your planning needs, this communication will outline the following information:

Transition Schedule: To ensure that you have enough time to make the service transitions, the HITS Signals will be available or dual illuminated at their current and new locations. QHD 11 will be available from April 1, 2019 to May 20th, 2019. QSD 13 and QSD 14 will be available from April 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019.

Equipment Requirements: NAS and Local Control Systems – If your system has a device associated to the multiplex the service is transitioned to, the service will automatically be authorized on this receiver. If your system does not have a receiver on the new multiplex for your service, you can repurpose the current receiver for the new multiplex. HITS will contact you if your systems require any additional equipment. QT/QT+ Systems - If you take the upgraded 256 QAM DVB-S2 services, you ONLY need ONE Drake 2x4 to receive (4) multiplexes. The Drake 2x4 allows you to receive 2 transponders, with 2 multiplexes on each, using a single piece of equipment. All QT systems should be able to utilize their current Drake 2X4 equipment. Scheduling the Appropriate Changes to your Channel Map
NAS customers: Please submit the standard NAS channel map change request as soon as possible. Please allow for up to two weeks to process. All channel map requests should be submitted no later than June 1, 2019. NAS-RAC customers: You will need to follow the standard NAS-RAC change process. Please complete a channel map change form and submit to NAS-RAC. Local Control customers: You will need to make the necessary channel map changes locally. QuickTake and QuickTake+ customers: HITS will release schedules outlining when your VCT will be updated with new transponders.
