The area of the District covers a total area of approximately 16,892 square kilometres with a population of 1 308 129 constituting approximately 32.38% of Mpumalanga’s population. Nkangala District Municipality is regarded to have a high eco-tourism potential, which requires the protection, rehabilitation and enhancement of its attractive natural resources.
