Grapho-therapy is a scientific method of identifying, evaluating, and understanding personality via the strokes and patterns revealed by handwriting. It is not document examining, which involves the examination of a sample of handwriting to determine the author. Document examining is often used in forgery cases--no comment on character or personality is derived from the handwriting. In this project I have first explained the theory or mechanism behind the therapy in my background or literature study. By going through various internet sites and books and by using personal knowledge on this topic I have made an attempt to understand the basic and complex functioning involved in grapho-therapy. Then through my case study I have attempted to test my accumulated knowledge, practically. The findings of this project seem to be positive. They have given me better insight into the topic and have answered my question on how effective this technique is. 2 Learning from the project: The project has been very educative and helpful to me in understanding not only the in depths of my topic but also the appropriate and effective ways of researching and analyzing my data or information. I learnt from this project the appropriate ways of presenting my learning. This project on “Grapho-therapy” has helped me to test my knowledge and skill and to read and gather more information on this subject through literature studies and field work. From this project I have learnt some dynamics of counseling, such as how different people come with different problems and how these problems can be tackled in a number of ways. As I plan to continue my higher studies in Industrial psychology, this has been a great opportunity to learn and apply a therapy as interesting as this one. Also during my research I came across many other researches, articles, information etc not only pertaining to my topic but related to other studies surrounding my focus, hence it will be safe enough to claim that I have gained much more information than what is stated in this file, hence I would call it an all round learning experience. 3 Introduction: You may be shocked to hear that handwriting analysis is not new. The modern version of graphology has its roots in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. What you are studying here is a science that is at least 100 years old. The first known books on graphology date back to Spain in 1552. In the last century, researchers have sifted through theories and now agree on over 100 universal traits and symbols in handwriting. In most countries outside the United States, handwriting analysis is known as graphology. In France, Europe, India, and all over the world, handwriting analysis is bundled into one field. It is like saying that you are a doctor but not a specialist of any kind. There are different fields and different methodologies in this area. The Gestalt method is based on the German research in the early 1900s and is similar to Rorschach’s inkblot tests. Gestalt was a therapist who took a view of the entire whole first, then started to break a subject into parts. His opinion is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It might include spirituality. It might include emotions. It might include a look at many personality traits. The Gestalt therapist works, in essence, from a very broad perspective. The trait stroke method is now most prominent. This method was pioneered by Milton Bunker, who wrote many books in the 1950s. He founded a training company in Chicago that was very popular from the 1950s until its demise during the mid-90s. Bunker was a pioneer in bringing this approach to analyzing handwriting to America from France. This method views each stroke as significant and builds up to form the whole personality, weighing all factors big and small. To use an architectural metaphor, the Gestalt practitioner would step back 1,000 feet from a building and describe the general impression. This can be useful, but one might miss the basement, the back yard, or the internal offices. The trait stroke practitioner would look at each of the bricks one by one, then each office, then each wall, and slowly walk backward until the whole building was in full view. Having a micro- and macro view can provide more in-depth results. Both would have revealed accurate results if the analyst were extremely skilled and experienced. The challenge is that many students trained in Gestalt-only do not have enough experience or the proper training to deliver a comprehensive and accurate analysis. 4 Literature Survey: In Handwriting Analysis 101 - The Basic Traits written by Bart A. Baggett, Handwriting analysis is described as a modern form of psychology that identifies personality traits and human character through handwriting. Personality is the term for behavior and character. In the study of psychology, personality is a subcategory of general psychology. Personality is a cluster of character traits and the corresponding behaviors based on those character traits. Handwriting analysis is the quickest way to accurately discover someone’s true personality out of any formal psychological test on the market today. Handwriting is accurate because once you learn to write, the structure of your actual handwriting is handed over to the power of your subconscious mind. Your handwriting changes as your personality evolves or changes as a reaction to life’s many positive and negative events. The subconscious mind is a concept popularized by Sigmund Freud. He identified the mind as having various parts that were out of our conscious control. Freud attributed much of our behavior to those programs running beneath the surface. Carl Jung developed the concept much further in his research. The subconscious, or the unconscious, is the part of the mind that controls the autonomic nervous system--breathing, heartbeat, and the body’s reactions that run automatically-- including the fight or flight reactions. Anything that is not in your current awareness is said to be stored in this area of your mind. Handwriting is formed in a specific part of the brain that controls language and writing skills. If someone has an injury to that part of the brain, his ability to write and speak will be compromised. Therefore, individual handwriting is hardwired into the nervous system. That is why it is very difficult to create a forgery that fools a professional document examiner. The examiner knows what to look for at the microscopic level that identifies the actual author. When you were a child, a lot of information was programmed into your mind. Your subconscious mind develops many belief systems and character traits based on this programming. We are often stuck wondering how it can be changed. Why do we crave chocolate or love a certain smell? Have you ever heard a song that instantly triggered memories and emotions from 20 years ago? These cravings and emotions are all programs running inside your subconscious mind. Most of the therapy processes invented in the twentieth century worked from the premise that our past memories and past traumas were unconsciously controlling our present life. Therefore, as an adult, it seems useful to become aware of those past triggers and handle them--forgive, re-analyze them, or simply become aware of the event. 5 Handwriting is a projection directly from the subconscious mind. We can all write printing or calligraphy with precision and attention for a few minutes. When we stop paying attention to the formation of letters, writing is a simple projection of the subconscious mind. You can’t fake it for long. It has recently been documented that our signatures and handwriting styles are so statistically unique that a computer can tell the author of a handwriting sample 97 percent of the time. A forensic document examiner with proper training can fare even better. In April 2002, The National Institute of Justice turned to Sargur Srihari, a computer scientist and director of the Center of Excellence in Document Analysis and Recognition at the University of Buffalo, to help establish that a person’s handwriting was indeed individualistic. This concept plays a key role in courts throughout the world; thus, there is an entire profession based on forensic document examination. However, handwriting analysis is a different profession. Graphology, or handwriting analysis, as it is often called, is the science of revealing personality traits from someone’s handwriting, not of identifying the author. The subject of how we form personality is vast and worthy of several large volumes. Essentially, personality is formed by a combination of genetic coding, behavior, and experiences. If you take the viewpoint that every child born is like a brand new computer program, then every event, situation, word, or emotion this child has experienced from birth until now, imprints into the subconscious mind. These imprints create personality-- everything from fears, limitations, belief systems, and power. Personality is a result of past experiences and decisions. Can we change our lives? Well, everything can be changed. The universe is fluid, and nothing stays the same. The only people who say, “People can’t change,” are those who are bitter or fearful of change in themselves or those around them.

Robertson University of West Georgia CHILD CASE STUDY: ZOE FRANK 2 Introducing Zoe Frank Conducting a case study of another human being is a radical departure from an ordinary graduate level course assignment like conducting a literature review. Living people are extraordinary more interesting than paper and ink. While books are an indispensible repository of knowledge, it takes imagination to bring them to life. People, on the other hand, especially four-year-old girls like Zoe Frank, are a creation too wonderful for human comprehension. The purpose of this qualitative research case study is to observe, interview, and report findings on a four-year-old subject relative to six development elements. Figure 1 - Zoe Frank Methodology The author took a qualitative research approach comprised of observation; an emailed survey tool, and caregiver interviews. The selected caregivers included the parents, the nanny, the primary teacher, and finally, Zoe herself. The author completed the same survey tool as the other caregivers completed to synthesize reflections from the two observation periods. The rationale behind selecting these particular caregivers is to gather a representation of persons who have known the subject for various lengths of time and under different conditions. CHILD CASE STUDY: ZOE FRANK 3 Zoe’s parents Dan and Jennifer Frank are the parents of not only Zoe, but her two-year-old brother, Asher. The parents, obviously, have known Zoe her entire lifespan, so their observations and perspectives which are represented as one unit in the tables in this study, are far more reliable than any other perspective that will be featured.

    Journal of Agricultural Education, 57(3), 115-128. doi: 10.5032/jae.2016.03115 A Case Study of Learning, Motivation, and Performance Strategies for Teaching and Coaching CDE Teams Anna Ball1, Amanda Bowling2, and Will Bird3 Abstract This intrinsic case study examined the case of students on CDE (Career Development Event) teams preparing for state competitive events and the teacher preparing them in a school with a previous exemplary track record of winning multiple state and national career development events. The students were interviewed multiple times during the 16-week preparation period before, during, and after the district and state CDEs. From the interview data it was found the teacher used a variety of motivational strategies when preparing CDE teams. The teacher shifted the use of both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation strategies based on students' needs. The teacher also utilized performance strategies including both coaching and learning strategies, to develop students' competitive drive and content knowledge. From the findings it is recommended that CDE coaches assess students' needs and utilize the successful coaching behaviors and strategies accordingly. Currently, the National FFA Organization offers 24 individual and team CDEs (National FFA Organization, 2016), with three-fifths of the entire FFA membership participating in CDEs at some level (Talbert & Balschweid, 2004).

    ONE What is a Case Study? In this chapter we distinguish between extensive and intensive research in social science (section 1.1). The object of case studies – a social phenomenon – is dis- cussed in section 1.2. After surveying some historical origins of the case study in section 1.3, section 1.4 examines the research question as a methodological point of departure. It determines which general type of design is to be used: an exten- sive design (e.g. a survey) or an intensive one (e.g. a case study). A definition of the case study is presented in section 1.5, and expanded upon in section 1.6. The popular point of view that a case study is characterised by a holistic approach is explained and discussed in section 1.7. In section 1.8 we review the contents of this chapter and we draw conclusions. 1.1 Introduction In social research, we describe and explain certain phenomena that relate to people, groups, organisations, communities, large towns or even countries. Such phenomena are, for instance: leisure time activities; the treatment of an ADHD child; the determinants of individual health; the way in which people use their social network; how people cope with a disaster; riots; strikes; the process of adop- tion of an organisational innovation in a hospital; the principles according to which political coalitions are formed; or, an arms’ race between nation-states. In order to study social phenomena, we use a diversity of approaches or strategies. They can roughly be divided into two general types: extensive approaches and intensive approaches.1 In an extensive approach we collect information about the relevant properties of a large number of instances of a phenomenon.

When the goals of the research are designed to make major contributions to a field, such as improving the understanding of a disease process or determining the efficacy of an intervention, investigators may perceive the outcomes of their studies to be more important than providing protections for individual participants in the research. Although it is understandable to focus on goals, our society values the rights and welfare of individuals. It is not considered ethical behavior to use individuals solely as means to an end. The importance of demonstrating respect for research participants is reflected in the principles used to define ethical research and the regulations, policies, and guidance that describe the implementation of those principles. Who? This course is intended for use by individuals involved in the design and/or conduct of National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded human subjects research. What? This course is designed to prepare investigators involved in the design and/or conduct of research involving human subjects to understand their obligations to protect the rights and welfare of subjects in research. The course material presents basic concepts, principles, and issues related to the protection of research participants. Why? Unhealthy employees incline to be absent and have high sick and hospitalization leaves. Recent statistics from Social Security Organizations of Malaysia indicate that the number of occupational diseases reported has increased every year from 2005 (194 cases) to 2014 (3002 cases). The number of Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD) and occupational stress are also rising at alarming rate. Poor workplace ergonomics is claimed as one of the major contributors to the declining of employees’ health. Despite its importance, study on the effect of workplace ergonomics on employees’ health is still very limited. Thus, this paper aimed to identify the effects of workplace ergonomics (in terms of indoor air quality, lighting, furniture and tools, acoustics, building general environment) on employees’ health (physiological or psychological). A cross sectional survey participated by 171 employees of an automotive manufacturer revealed that all elements of workplace ergonomics have significant correlations with employees’ health (p <0.05) with indoor air quality has the strongest coefficient of 0.688. Regression analysis shows that workplace ergonomics explained 51.8% variance in employees’ health with only indoor air quality is retained as significant contributor.
