We are your “One-Stop Protein Shop”! Where did Shenandoah Biotechnology get our unique name? For inquiring minds, our owners wanted a unique name for their biotechnology company that would not only stand out among other biotechnology companies, but also have significance and personal meaning for them. With both owners being pet rescue enthusiasts, the story begins with the rescue of an 11-day-old baby kitten. She was a gorgeous, fire engine-red, female, Maine Coon (a breed of cat), and she instantly stole everyone’s hearts. She was so stunningly beautiful that she was named after the Shenandoah Mountains of West Virginia and affectionately referred to as “Doah Doah.” The kitten turned into an incredible, cat that loved life and loved having fun, so it only seemed fitting to name their new company after her. To continue to honor Doah Doah, Shenandoah Biotechnology donates $2 per order to the Hurricane Pets Rescue (HPR). This is a nationwide, no-kill, non-profit rescue that provides shelter and care for the animals that become homeless because of a hurricane. TTeddy My wife and I were looking for a dog to adopt and our daughter let us know about an ad from a pet shelter in Anderson, IN. The dog looked promising, so my wife, daughter, and her dog, Mr. Scott, all went to the shelter to see him. It turned out he had been living at a foster home, not at the shelter. It all worked out and Teddy has been with us for 2 years next November. He has a personality and is a great cuddle dog. Steven J Miller Indiana University School of Medicine Mr. Scott Mr.We went to the shelter to Scottlook at a group of dogs that had been seized from an animal hoarder. Twenty schnoodles had been living neglected in a van. When we got there, one came right up to the gate and put his paws on the fence, staring up at us. We couldn’t say no to that face, and Mr. Scott joined our family. He loves to run in our acres of lawn, but his favorite activity is to snuggle. When I got him, I was told that he had spent a lot of time around dogs while he was waiting to be adopted, and that definitely influenced his personality. Mangok likes to fetch, and is leash trained. His hobbies include meowing loudly to wake me up every morning, stealing french fries, and destroying lamps. His special talent is that he can play basketball. He's a great companion and I'm lucky to call him my cat son. Cierra Sharp University of Louisville MollyMolly Molly was the beloved cat of a good friend who raised her from a kitten, and although she looks young, she is 11! He got engaged to a girl that is highly allergic to cats and was about to give her to a shelter but in a final effort to avoid that, asked if I could take her, so I did! The plan was to take care of Molly for 2 months but we fell in love with her (obviously... look at that face!) She's a total cuddle bug and the thought of her living out her days in a shelter breaks my heart. Now she loves reveling in the air from 'her' fan, hanging on the porch, and all the cuddles. Love her!! Save a Life - Spay & Neuter (877)-613-6020 CaptainCaptain ““CAPCAP”” StarkStark Cap traveled quite a distance to come into our lives. She was born in Alabama and first rescued by a Tennessee-based shelter. We were looking to adopt a spirited Jack Russell terrier when moving from Connecticut to New Jersey and were quickly won over by her sweet face and oversized ears! She was listed near New York City, which was perfect for us. When we inquired about adopting her, we learned that she had just been relocated to Rhode Island. Despite never having met her, we suddenly found that we couldn’t imagine life without her. Cap finally came into our lives traveling from Alabama to New Jersey by way of Tennessee, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. When we finally did get her settled in, we discovered that she had acquired two parasites during her dog rescue adventure, but thankfully she made a full recovery. We also discovered that our Jack Russell mix was in fact a Rat Terrier-Basenji mix, but a Cap by any other NicolasNicolas breed looks just as sweet! Jonathan Singer Frederick Rutgers University In December of 2003,Frederick our youngest child wrote a letter to Santa Clause explaining how she had been told “our lives are just too busy for a dog”, so instead of a puppy, would Santa bring a Cure for Diabetes for her mother and sister? Santa went online and found a Bischon Frise Rescue Group who had rescued a litter of 5 puppies from a horrible situation in southern Missouri. Nic was brought to us on Santa’s sleigh almost 15 yrs ago! He has brought so much joy to our lives and continues to bring joy to us daily! He is now almost 15 years old but he still looks and acts like he did when we first got him! Nic is such a blessing. We have loved and cherished every minute he has been a part of our family!
