HAINES CITY – The Second Annual Haines City Cardboard Boat Challenge is Saturday May 5 at Lake Eva Park. Boat building starts at 8 a.m. and the races finished up last year around noon.

The fun event is designed to educate the public about how trash ends up in area lakes and what you can do to help prevent that from happening.

Haines City Public Works Director Addie Javed, one of the event organizers, has led the way cleaning up Lake Eva quite a bit over the past couple of years.
