The junior from Jan. 12 at Rocky Mountain Open* 8 p.m. Matthews, N.C., claimed the all-around title and qualified for the event finals on rings, pommel horse and high bar at the 2007 Rocky Mountain Jan. 20 at Nebraska (w/ Air Force) 2 p.m. Open. He finished second on horse and claimed the rings title before Jan. 26 MICHIGAN 7 p.m. finishing on high bar. His high bar dismount, however, ended both his Feb. 1 nebraska 7 p.m. competition and his season as he suffered a torn ACL. USA Captured 11 Medals at Pagu Championships
USA CAPTURED 11 MEDALS AT PAGU CHAMPIONSHIPS USA delegation traveled to Rosario, Argentina, for the Pan American Gymnastics Union Individual Event Championships, Nov. 22-23. The gymnasts earned 11 medals and all five U.S. gymnasts advanced to the final round, with the women finishing 1-2 on all four events. During day one, Samantha Shapiro of Los Angeles/All Olympia Gymnastics Center took first on the uneven bars with Corrie Lothrop wins and Aa score of 15.425, and Corrie Lothrop of Danvers, Mass./Hill’s Olivia Courtney (L) is Gymnastics, won the title on vault with a 14.375, as well as the second. bars silver, 14.350. Olivia Courtney of Orlando, Fla./Orlando Metro, was second on vault with a score of 14.313. During day two, Shapiro scored a 15.775 to finish first on balance beam, followed by Lothrop in second at 15.575. Courtney posted a 15.175 to take the top spot on floor exercise with Lothrop in second with a 14.975. On the men’s side for day one, Danell Leyva of Miami, Fla./ Universal Gymnastics, finished second on pommel horse with Far Left: Danell Leyva a score of 14.550. Glen Ishino of Santa Ana, Calif./SCATS-HB, finished fifth on pommel horse with a 13.900. Leyva also placed sixth on the floor exercise with a 13.075. During day two, Leyva placed first on the horizontal bar with a score of 15.775 and Ishino was fourth with a 15.050. Leyva earned a silver medal on parallel bars with a score of 15.075 and Ishino was fifth with a 14.550. -
Valorie Kondos Field
Valorie Kondos Field With fi ve NCAA titles in the last nine years and four in the last six years, UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field has positioned her Bruins as the premier program in collegiate gymnastics. Not only has she consistently recruited and coached some of the top talent in the world, but she has produced the results. In the past 10 years alone, Kondos Field has led UCLA to fi ve NCAA titles and one runner-up fi nish, nine Regional titles and six Pac-10 championships. In 2005, Kondos Field coached senior Kristen Maloney to the NCAA vault and beam titles and the Honda Award and freshman Tasha Schwikert to the NCAA all-around crown. The dynamic duo were ranked No. 1 and 2 in the all-around all season. The Bruins won Pac-10 and West Regional titles and placed fourth at the NCAA Championships. The team also produced in the classroom, posting a team GPA of 3.3 to rank fi rst amongst UCLA teams. During the summer of 2004, Kondos Field Head Coach coached Kate Richardson to her second Olympic Games berth. Richardson became the fi rst Bruin 16th Year gymnast ever to compete at the Olympics as a collegian. Also, former Bruin Mohini Bhardwaj UCLA ‘87 was named team captain of the U.S. silver-medal winning Olympic squad. Both Richardson and Bhardwaj qualifi ed for the fl oor exercise fi nals at the Olympics, Richardson with a Kondos Field-choreographed routine. Career Highlights Kondos Field’s 2004 UCLA squad won its fourth NCAA title of the decade in record fashion, scoring an all-time NCAA Championships record 198.125 in front of a giddy home crowd in Pauley Pavilion. -

American Cup Returns to Greensboro, N.C., in 2019
American Cup returns to Greensboro, N.C., in 2019 GREENSBORO, N.C., April 26, 2018 – The American Cup, the USA’s most prestigious international invitational and part of the International Gymnastics Federation’s all-around World Cup series, returns to the Greensboro (N.C.) Coliseum Complex on March 2, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. ET. The American Cup, which was held in Greensboro in 2014, is the anchor of a week that includes four gymnastics events. In addition to the American Cup, the Triple Cup weekend includes the Nastia Liukin Cup on March 1 at 7 p.m. and the men’s Elite Team Cup at 6 p.m. on March 2. The Greensboro Coliseum Complex is also hosting the 2019 Greensboro Gymnastics Invitational Feb. 27-March 3, turning the city into “gymnastics central.” The USA’s Morgan Hurd of Middletown, Del./First State Gymnastics, and Yul Moldauer of Arvada, Colo./University of Oklahoma, won the 2018 American Cup. The American Cup showcases many of the world’s best male and female gymnasts in a one-day, all- around competition, and invitations to compete will be based on performances at the 2018 World Gymnastics Championships. Held in conjunction with the American Cup, the Nastia Liukin Cup features many of the country’s top Junior Olympic female gymnasts and is held at 7 p.m. on the night prior to the American Cup. Named after the 2008 Olympic gold medalist and one of the USA’s most popular gymnasts, the Nastia Liukin Cup showcases gymnasts who qualify through the Nastia Liukin Cup Series. -
