The Miami, Fla. native recorded his 100th career save against San Diego State on Feb. 20, while his season-opening shutout of San Francisco was the seventh clean sheet of his career. He has also stopped the only PK attempt against him this year. THE WEEK IN REVIEW UCLA is coming off a 4-0 loss on the road at No. 3 Stanford last Saturday. The Bruins battled the Cardinal to a scoreless draw for most of the first half before the hosts opened the scoring on a 40th minute goal by Keegan Tingey. Stanford would add three scores in a 15-minute span in the second half. Garces was tested often in the contest, making a season-high six saves for the Bruins. MATT TAYLOR JOINS REAL SALT LAKE COACHING STAFF UCLA’s Matt Taylor was officially named an assistant coach on the Real Salt Lake coaching staff on Mar. 11. Taylor had spent the past three seasons on the UCLA coaching staff. He scored 33 goals in in 87 games as a student- athlete at UCLA - winning Pac-10 Player of the Year honors in 2003 - before playing professionally from 2004-17. 2020-21 UCLA MEN’S SOCCER UNITED SOCCER COACHES POLL FERCH TAKES OVER THE NO. 10 SHIRT Sophomore midfielder Riley Ferch is UCLA’s top returning scorer on points (1-9-11 in 2019), headlining a lineup that features nine returning starters. Ferch was one of the top playmakers in the west last season, pacing the Pac-12 in RK TEAM PREV RECORD 1 Clemson University 1 9-2-1 helpers and notching the most single-season assists by a Bruin since Jackson Yueill had 11 in 2016. With three players in the rankings, UCLA had the 14 UNC-Wilmington 20 3-0-1 second-most of all Pac-12 teams, trailing only Cal (4). 15 University Of Akron RV 2-0-1 16 Oral Roberts University 24 7-0-0 ERIC ILOSKI SELECTED IN 2021 MLS SUPERDRAFT BY VANCOUVER 17 University of New Hampshire 18 2-0-0 UCLA senior midfielder Eric Iloski was selected in the second round (No. 46 overall) of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft 18 Coastal Carolina University 23 7-2-1 by Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Iloski becomes UCLA’s 80th MLS draft pick all-time, and the first since Frankie Amaya 19 Missouri State University NR 2-0-0 went No. 1 overall in 2019 to FC Cincinnati. Iloski also becomes the first Bruin ever to be drafted by Vancouver. The 20 Liberty University 15 5-1-1 Escondido, Calif. native will complete his senior season at UCLA before beginning his pro career.
