He is shooting 44.9 percent overall and Eric Gaines -- 2 made 16 three pointers. Thomas has drawn 24 fouls in the six games and is 33-of-38 at the line for 86.8 percent. For the last 26 games of the season, he posted a 2.93 assist-to-turnover ratio. For the entire 31 games 1/14 -- at A&M -- 6 season, Smart’s 129-70 assist-to-turnover ratio was 1.84, fourth in the league. In the 18 SEC games, Smart was equally as impressive with 65 assists and 31 turnovers (2.10 ratio) which was 2020-21 (3) tops in the league. SMART TOPS 100 THREE-POINTERS It was at the 6:01 mark of the first half against Sam Houston (12/14) when Javonte Smart made his first three- pointer of the game and that gave him 100 for his LSU career. He became the 23rd player in LSU history with 100 career treys. , who played for the 2006 Final Four team, is the team’s all-time leader in three-pointers at 258, while Tremont Waters (2017-19) was the one prior to Smart to cross the 100 threshold, finishing at 128.

DARIUS DAYS Days also was among the league leaders in rebounds last year, averaging 6.8 boards overall (8th in the SEC) and 6.4 in conference games for No. 11 in the league games rankings. Days averaged 11.1 points last year for the Tigers, hitting 48.6 percent of his field goal attempts (125-of-257) with 39 three-pointers. After averaging 5.3 points as a freshman, Days more than doubled his scoring average and increased his rebound average from 4.0 to 6.8. So far this season, he is fourth on the team in scoring at 14.5 points and 8.3 boards. He has hit 12 treys and is shooting 31-of-53 from the field (58.5%). Days is T6 this year so far in rebound average.

MANNING RETURNS After a season in which he broke the fifth metatarsal bone in both feet at various times in SEC play last year, the team’s long senior, Charles Manning Jr., finally was able to make his season debut against Louisiana Tech (12/6). Manning played 13.5 minutes in the Tech game, scoring 2 points with two rebounds in his opening game while playing on a minutes restriction after coming back to practice. With the Trendon Watford injury, he was elevated to the starting lineup against Sam Houston (12/14), playing 32 minutes and scoring four points with seven rebounds, two assists and three steals. In three games, Manning is averaging 21.4 minutes, 4.0 points and 4.3 rebounds a game.

WILKINSON GETS FIRST START Freshman Mwani Wilkinson from Las Vegas got his first start of his LSU career on Dec. 6 against Louisiana Tech. Although he didn’t score in the game, he played 17 minutes and had one and two steals. His best game was against Southeastern Louisiana (11/30), scoring 12 points on 5-of-8 field goal attempts. He scored six against Sam Houston hitting all three field goal attempts. For the year, Wilkinson is averaging 4.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Against Nicholls he played 20 minutes with a rebound and two steals, but a +/- number of +14. For the season, he is averaging 17.8 minutes, hitting 3.7 points and 2.5 rebounds. Of his 15 rebounds, 12 were offensive.

JALEN COOK The Walker, Louisiana product missed the Southeastern game with a minor injury but came back against Louisiana Tech (12/6) and played 13 minutes, scoring 10 points with two assists. Cook in three games is averaging 5.0 points per game and 1.3 rebounds for the year. Cook had nine in 11 minutes against Sam Houston and is averag-
