R 3 Reverend’s Corner Trip Itinerary; June 12 – head back to Santiago de Compostela – fly to London June 13 – 15th – Back in London June 16 – fly home to NB I write this note having completed my Camino pilgrimage where life for over two weeks was 99% void of the influences and luxuries of the outside world. Starting our trek in León Spain we immediately settled in to the simple routine of walking, being one with ourselves, with God, with a fellow pilgrim or two and at the end of each day finding a place of rest and some nourishment. One of my reflections as I look forward to this Sunday at Trinity where we will celebrate the continued life journey of those being confirmed I am again reminded that we are all on a continual journey as God opens us to His wonder and gifts He has for each one of us. In the words of Richard Peace we need to quiet ourselves so we can hear God in our lives. During our Confirmation studies we enjoyed such times where we were intentional on focusing on our lives and what God means to each of us. I give thanks to my son, David, for his inspiration that I take this time which has been beyond words at this time to appropriately describe my Camino experience. I pray that each of us as we go forward find ways in our lives to have Camino like experiences where we can ratchet back our lives to the basics where we are one with God and His Creation. Today we celebrate together as we join in the Confirmation / Affirmation of the members of our community. Lyman was ordained Deacon in Hamilton, ON, in 1963 and Priest 5 in this diocese in 1964. He served in the parishes of Bright, Madawaska, St. Stephen, Woodstock, Kingston and Saint John. He was Archdeacon of Saint John from 1990 - 1999. In 1994 he published Citizens With the Saints, a Brief History of Anglicanism in New Brunswick, as a diocesan sesquicentennial project. He and Margaret returned to his native Ontario after retirement. Funeral will take place at St John's Anglican Peterborough Ontario on Wednesday June 21st at 11 am with a reception to follow at St John's. Those being ordained today. 6 Shared from the Anglican Diocese of Fredericton Pilgrimage deemed a success By Gisele McKnight Three counties, 240 kilometres, 15 days — the bishop’s third annual pilgrimage was complete as of Sunday, with a service at St. Philip’s Anglican Church in Moncton. This year Bishop David Edwards chose the Archdeaconry of Moncton in which to walk. He and walking partner Trevor Fotheringham began the trek on Sunday, May 24 after the morning service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Browns Yard, on the Richibucto River, to St. Matthew’s Anglican Church in Harcourt, a 21-kilometre walk. That set the pace for the longest pilgrimage yet. On Wednesday, June 7, a visit to Riverglade found a group of nine walking from Petitcodiac to Salisbury in the Parish of Salisbury and Havelock. One pilgrim was from the Parish of Richmond, Cindy Derksen, who has joined the bishop for a day’s walk all three years. “It’s a wonderful outreach,” she said. “I enjoy supporting the bishop.
