The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the source and summit of the Christian life. The Mass, like all the sacraments, is about encountering Jesus. Jesus is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament; body, blood, soul, and divinity. DRIVE THRU EAT-IN Dear Parents,
Thank you for teaching your children what prayer is, how to pray, and most especially sacrificing your time to pray with & for them.
Prayer can be difficult because we can feel like God is not there, or God is not listening, or God does not care about me. These are all lies.
God loves you! God cares about you!
Please share with your children all the goodness that has happened in your life because of God. Anything good, true, and beautiful that happened is because of God.
Share with your children the answered prayers.
Give them concrete examples, so they know that God is working in yours and their lives.
Take time to pray for & with your children and have your children pray for & with you.
Be specific in your prayer. Pray for good, true, and beautiful things to happen.
Example: Lord Jesus, please bless my daughter today to do well on her test, soccer game, dance recital, playing her video games, etc. Lord Jesus, please bless my mother today to do well with completing her tasks, getting great parking spots, eating great food today, etc.
What is Prayer?
Prayer is defined in the Catechism as the raising of one’s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God.
Prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love.
Prayer is simply a conversation with God, a “heart-to-heart” throughout the day with our lover.
Since prayer is a conversation, like any conversation, it involves listening, speaking, and simply being silent in God’s presence.
A great format for praying as a family is ACTS
A is for Adoration, C is for Contrition, T is for Thanksgiving, and S is for Supplication.
A is for Adoration or giving praise to God
Adoration exalts the greatness of the Lord who made us and the almighty power of the Savior who sets us free. Simply come to God as you are. Bring everything to God. Saying, “Jesus, I praise you and I love you.” C is for Contrition
