EUROPEAN TRIATHLON UNION ETU EVENT STATUS: 2001 – 2016 1. INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this document is to provide details about the status of the past and current ETU Events, including strengths and weaknesses. Recommendations will follow each section to provide an opportunity for further discussion with ITU and at the various levels at ETU. ETU main goals on events are: a) Increase the general participation of triathlon and all related multisport in all age-group categories within Europe; b) Provide opportunities for young athletes to access the sport; c) Keep gender balance on all level of competitions; d) Provide a pathway to grow from youth athlete to elite athletes competing at the Olympic Games. 2. GENERAL: A thorough review of the Competition System is required due to: a) the growing number of ITU events in Europe; b) the increased number of participants in all categories; c) the growing demands of Paratriathlon being integrated in the sport; d) the increased number of private international event organising companies wanting to align with our system. 3. ETU TRIATHLON EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS: is the main event of ETU. The event package consist of the following races: elite Olympic Distance Triathlon, the junior Sprint Triathlon event, the Age Group OD and sprint Triathlon, the elite and junior mixed relay, an opening ceremony and the organisation of the ETU Annual General Assembly. ETU is asking to pay an event fee and prize money for both the elite individual event as the elite mixed relay. Having the event live broadcasting is recommended but not mandatory. This means that the LOC has to invest a substantial amount into this organisation.

The Paralympic Movement and the Olympics in Germany The Paralympic Movement and the Olympics in Germany Gudrun DOLL-TEPPER, Prof.Dr. (Free University Berlin / German Olympic Sports Confederation) Introduction In 2006, the “German Sports Confederation” (Deutscher Sportbund) and the “National Olympic Committee for Germany” (Nationales Olympisches Komitee für Deutschland) merged, and the “German Olympic Sports Confederation”(Deutscher Olympischer Sportbund/DOSB) became the umbrella sport organisation in Germany. In this paper, the main goals of this merging process, some historical developments, as well as current structures and issues will be discussed with a focus on the relations between the DOSB and disability sport organisations, in particular the “German Disability Sport Organisation”(Deutscher Behindertensportverband), which also serves as the “National Paralympic Committee Germany ” (Nationales Paralympisches Komitee). Both organisations are working together in a variety of programmes and projects, e.g. in the preparation of bids to host Olympic and Paralympic Games. “Inclusion” has become a keyword for many initiatives in German sports, particularly regarding the implementation of the “UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”, which entered into force in March 2009. 1. A look back: Sport developments in Germany after World War II After World War II Germany was divided into the “Federal Republic of Germany” (FRG, West Germany) and the “German Democratic Republic” (GDR, East Germany). As a consequence, this division existed also in the newly established sport 1 Journal of Paralympic Research Group vol.5 organisations(see Deutscher Sportbund 1990): the “National Olympic Committee for Germany”(NOK für Deutschland) was founded in 1949 and the “NOC for the GDR” followed in 1951.

“There is no doubt that Trevor Nyakane is the Boks number one tighthead at the moment and those who wrote Beast off are way wrong. Nyakane's transformation this season has been exceptional and his performance in Salta was one of the best ever by a Bok tighthead.” - Brendan Nel waxing lyrical on Twitter Volume 19, Number 30 15 August 2019 Register to receive your own free weekly newsletter at www.rugbyrsa.co.za Boks Claim First Rugby Championship Title Unless you’ve been living under a rock or visiting The win sets the Boks up nicely for this weekend’s one of the few places on the planet without a working friendly return match at Loftus, allowing the coach telecommunications infrastructure, you’ll know by to experiment a little. And that’s exactly what he has now that the Springboks won The Rugby done, along with bringing back Siya Kolisi after Championship on Saturday night. The feat was injury and giving Schalk Brits the captaincy: achieved by comprehensively thrashing Argentina (13-46) in their own backyard (Salta). You can catch 15. “A lot of people have asked how can you squeeze another game at the end of a long season, but we see this as an honour... But the week is also a reward, because it is not as tense, you enjoy it with the boys and can have a few beers.” - Rassie Erasmus Volume 1, Number 18 06 December 2018 Register to receive your own free weekly newsletter at www.leopardnewsletters.co.za Fantastic Win for the Barbarians After a disappointing tour of the northern hemisphere, Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus honoured his commitment to coach the Barbarians against Argentina last weekend, and came away with the win. The fact that he selected no fewer than 13 current Springboks in his invitational side suggests that he considered the match an opportunity for more Springbok experimentation. The Baabaas scored first after a perfectly-timed inside ball from Schalk Brits paved the way for the first try by Juan Manuel Leguizamon, the Argentina international, scoring against his countrymen inside The Baabaas were first to score in the second half three minutes. But then, in the space of slightly more with Siya Kolisi cantering over but a Julian Montoya than 20 minutes, Argentina scored four tries, all of try and Joaquin Diaz Bonilla conversion restored which were converted. Argentina’s advantage barely five minutes later and then the Baabaas crossed the line again. With the Baabaas trailing 28-7 after spending considerable time in Argentina’s red zone, referee In the 75th minute Lood de Jager powered over for John Lacey awarded the home side a well-deserved the Baabaas fifth try and set Elton Jantjies up to level penalty try to take the score to 28-14, which was also the scores with four minutes left.
