(VDS) A: It can: • Describe the character of the local area and be used to provide guidance in the future planning of housing and amenities. • Highlight what is special, and distinctive about the village. • Help to manage change, but not prevent it. • Help property owners and developers maintain the character by adopting designs which are acceptable to the local community. • Help protect visually important buildings and their settings. • Promote the use of sustainable and appropriate building materials. • Protect open spaces and maintain the appearance and character of the street scene. • Guide the local Planning Authority in their determination of Planning Applications. ABOUT OUR VILLAGE Sible Hedingham lies in the Northern corner of Essex, close to both the Suffolk and Cambridgeshire borders. The village covers some 2123 hectares (5248 acres) and has around 1700 dwellings with a population of 3700.
