Spring Newsletter 2018 Voice for the Army - Support for the Soldier MONMOUTH COMMUNIQUE Association of “Support Our Troops Club” the United States Winter Coat Collection Drive Army (AUSA) January 16, 2018 With sponsorship from the AUSA Monmouth Monmouth, Chapter, the “Support Our Troops Club” of Colts Neck High School (CNHS), NJ collected 300+ NJ Chapter pounds of much needed winter clothing for the many local “homeless” residents in Monmouth County during their Winter Coat Collection Drive. The collection drive took place from December 15, 2017 to January 15, 2018 and the collected items were picked-up for local charity by the Eric Fasano Insurance (Farmers Insurance) Agency and delivered to the "Feed All God's Children" Organization in Freehold, NJ who work in conjunction with St Peter's Episcopal Church in Freehold, NJ to distribute the clothing to those in need. The AUSA Monmouth Chapter provided support for this effort. Attendance was 80+ including West Point Military Academy AUSA Monmouth Chapter members Ms Founding Celebration Jackie Berman, VP Social Media and Mr L to R: Jackie Berman, Connie Whitman, Charles Seal, Newsletter Editor. The Guest National Vietnam War Veterans Day Charles Seal Celebration Speaker was Ms Connie Whitman, CEO and Owner of Whitman & Associates and Co-Founder of Wisdom Decoded. Her Historical Events presentation was titled, “Communication Style Techniques to Present, Persuade, Veterans Events and Win” and included a workshop of how to obtain your own Communication Style Community Events Assessment (CSA) Report at https://wisdomdecoded.com. Ms Whitman Fundraising Events explained, in detail, the 5 categories of a person's Communications Style including the attributes of each. Her objective was for each attendee to be aware of their own Military Unit Events personal Communications Style (a snapshot of how you communicate and your Future Event Flyers communication gifts and challenges) so they can Communicate better and be more successful in their business. Spring Newsletter 2018 High School Lancer Dancers and Bowling Team Students "Served those who Served" January 17, 2018 The NJ Veterans Memorial Home-Menlo Park, Edison, NJ, a Community Partner of the AUSA Monmouth Chapter, hosted the Lancer Dancers and Bowling Team Students of Saint John Vianney High School (SJVHS), Holmdel, NJ also a Monmouth Chapter Community Partner. These Catholic Athletes for Christ (CAC) embark on several Field Trips each year to "Serve those who Served". The students assisted the staff in transporting elderly/disabled Veterans to and from their daily activities that included the Exercise Club, Golf and Bowling. Moreover, they were “there for the residents” treating them with dignity, respect and compassion while brighten- ing their day. This CAC Field Trip was moderated by Monmouth Chapter President, COL (R) Samuel Fuoco; SJVHS Bowling Coach, Mr Bill Kusch and SJVHS Assistant Athletic Director, Ms Pat Smith. Young Professionals Membership Meeting January 17, 2018 The AUSA Monmouth Chapter hosted a Young Professionals Membership Meeting at the TopGolf Facility in Edison, NJ. Attendance was 25+ including Monmouth Chapter members COL (R) Samuel Fuoco, President; Mr Brian Dragotto, Young Professional Liaison; Mr Glenn Parata, Treasurer “elect”; SSG Kent Marshall, US Army Liaison and Mr Charles Seal, Newsletter Editor. The TopGolf facility provided climate-controlled group hitting bays that included golf clubs, food buffet and full-service bar which promoted an enjoyable evening of golf and networking. The friendly atmosphere was conducive for meeting, greeting and networking for Business Professionals to build business relationships and become acquainted with the mission and members of AUSA. Spring Newsletter 2018 Directors Installation Dinner January 24, 2018 The Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) hosted their Directors Installation Dinner at South Gate Manor, Freehold, NJ to welcome in the 2018 MRCC Officers, Executive Board and Board of Directors. Attendance was 70+ including AUSA Monmouth Chapter members COL (R) Samuel Fuoco, President; Ms Jackie Berman, VP Social Media; Mr Glenn Parada, Treasurer “elect” and Mr Charles Seal, Newsletter Editor. Mr David M. Salkin, MRCC Executive Director, provided the Welcome and opening remarks which were followed by Messages from the out-going MRCC President, Mr Gerald Cioci, and the in-coming MRCC President, Ms Bernice Lopez. Mr Vin Gopal, New Jersey State Senator, conducted the Swearing-In Ceremony. The event included a buffet dinner and DJ dancing. L to R: Glenn Parada, Charles Seal, COL (R) Samuel Fuoco, Eileen Seal 2018 Kickoff Networking Event January 25, 2018 The Shrewsbury Strategic Networking Group hosted a night of networking at the NEMO Tile + Stone facility in Red Bank, NJ. Providing assistance were NEMO Showroom Designers Ms Denise Sciametta and Ms Molly Taft. Over 35 attended including AUSA Monmouth Chapter members COL (R) Samuel Fuoco, President; Mr Brian Dragotto, Young Professional Liason; Ms Jackie Berman, VP Social Media; Mr Glenn Parada, Treasurer “elect” and Mr Charles Seal, Newsletter Editor. Mr Jonathan De Los Santos, Director of Operations, Advanced Physical Medicine and a Community Partner of the Monmouth Chapter also attended. Several Business Professionals inquired about AUSA membership and were provided with the information necessary to become Individual and/or Community Partner Members. Light food and beverages were provided. The friendly atmosphere was conducive for meeting, greeting and networking for Business Professionals to build business relationships and become acquainted with the mission and members of AUSA. Spring Newsletter 2018 AFCEA Luncheon February 6, 2018 The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) held their February 2018 Luncheon at the Doubletree Hotel, Eatontown, NJ. The Guest Speaker was Ms Michele Foster, Associate Executive Director of the Veterans Administration's (VA) Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) in Eatontown, NJ. Ms Foster facilitated a Contracting Officer Panel to discuss Best Practices and Acquisition Strategies of the VA TAC. The purpose of the discussion was to provide Industry with an overview as to how the VA, and the TAC in particular, determine acquisition strategies and to share some best practices pertaining to the development of Acquisition Requirements Packages (ARP). Attending from the AUSA Monmouth Chapter was Ms Yvonne Bova, AUSA Monmouth Chapter, Board Member. AUSA Monmouth Chapter Monthly Board Meeting February 6, 2018 The AUSA Monmouth Chapter monthly Board of Directors/Executive Committee Meeting was hosted by Community Partner, All Seasons Restaurant and Diner Owner, Mr Nick Zavolas. A typical Board Meeting covers a Chapter Status Report from the President; reports from the Treasurer, VPs and Liaisons; Old Business; New Business and discussions concerning Chapter Goals and Priorities. The AUSA Monmouth Chapter Newsletter Editor, Mr Charles Seal, provided a $20 “Captain Sponsor” donation from the Monmouth Chapter to this event. Attendance topped 75
