"The Need for Vocational Education in Agri- culture." This information was prepared by Dr. Duane M. Nielsen, specialist in teacher training and research in agricultural education. Dr. Nielsen is with the Division of Vocational Education, Office of Education, U. S. Department of Health. Education, and Welfare. Nielsen uses the latest census figures in his report and describes the opportunities for placement in farming as follows: There are 1,447,000 commercial farms in the United States grossing S5,000 and over annually. The annual replacement opportunities in this group are for 25,467 farm operators.
