Mejia is hitting .500 (10-for-20) with two Hitting: .252 (5th) ERA: 3.14 (2nd) doubles, a HR, six runs scored and 10 RBI on the hit streak, one behind his longest of the year HR: 22 Strikeouts: 319 (7 games, 4/5 to 4/11). Thus far in May, he’s hitting .352 (19-for-54) with two HR, 15 RBI. XBH: 104 Starter W: 14 Runs: 179 Holds: 11 Gartrell Gets it Done: Though he didn’t homer for the first time since 5/14, Stefan Gartrell Steals: 53 Saves: 10 posted his second-straight multi-hit game last night with a 2-for-4 showing including his sixth double…he’s hitting .545 (6-for-11) with three doubles, two HR and four RBI on this road trip. 2012 TEAM LEADERS Gartrell, an IL post-season All-Star last year with 26 HR (2nd in the IL) and a league-best 94 RBI, had hit just .165 with one HR and eight RBI in April…since then, he’s hitting .386 (22-for-57) Average: Jose Constanza (.321) with seven HR, 16 RBI and a 1.307 OPS. The hot stretch has included his first career IL Hits: Luis Durango (42) weekly award as he was named IL Batter of the Week on 5/6 (.400, 3 HR, 8 RBI). Gartrell has Home Runs: Stefan Gartrell (8) reached base safely in 19-straight games, the longest such streak by a G-Brave this season. RBI: Ernesto Mejia (30) Stolen Bases: Luis Durango (20) Seeing Red Again: Right-hander Todd Redmond is 1-0 with a 0.71 ERA (1 ER in 12.2 IP) Wins: 5 Players Tied (3) in his last two starts. Wednesday at Buffalo, he worked his first scoreless outing of the year, ERA: Todd Redmond (2.84) firing 6.0 frames to lower his ERA to 2.84. On 5/10 vs. Buffalo, Redmond tied a career high with Strikeouts: Todd Redmond (48) 10 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. His 48 total strikeouts are tied for third-most in the IL…he Quality Starts: Eric Junge (5) Saves: Dusty Hughes (4) also ranks fifth among IL starters in highest strikeout per 9.0 IP ratio at 9.74. Streaks Stopped: Luis Durango and Drew Sutton each went 0-for-5 last night, halting lengthy hitting streaks. Durango had tied the team lead with an 11- game hitting streak (shared by Sutton and Jose Constanza), hitting .385 (15-for-39) with three doubles, nine runs scored and five RBI…he also went 6-for-9 in stolen base attempts during that span, raising his season total to an IL-best 20 steals in 24 attempts. Still, he fell a game short of becoming the first G- Brave to hit in 12-straight since Tyler Pastornicky did it last season (7/26/11-8/7/11). Sutton, meanwhile, saw his seven-game streak end last night…he hit .478 (11-for-23) with three doubles, a triple, six runs scored and three RBI on the streak, including back-to-back multi-hit games on 5/15 and 5/16 at Buffalo. The Pen is Mightier: The Gwinnett bullpen is a combined 11-4 with a 2.59 ERA (44 ER in 153.0 IP), 12 holds and 10 saves in 14 chances this season. RHP Cory Gearrin leads the way with a 3-0 record and pen-best 1.19 ERA (3 ER in 22.2 IP)...he’s 2-for-3 in saves. RHP Buddy Carlyle is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA (4 ER in 20.0 IP) and ranks fourth among IL relievers in fewest baserunners per 9.0 IP (8.10). RHP Jaye Chapman is 1-2 with a 1.86 ERA (4 ER in 19.1 IP) and is 3-for-5 in saves…he’s fourth among IL relievers in lowest batting average (.154) and fifth in fewest baserunners per 9.0 IP (8.38).
