Game 4 Recap May 22 - Vegas Golden Knights 4, Minnesota Wild 0 Marc-Andre Fleury posted a 35-save shutout as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Minnesota Wild, 4-0, to take a 3-1 series lead on Saturday night at Xcel Energy Center. Nicolas Roy buried his first Stanley Cup Playoff goal midway through the first to give Vegas the 1-0 lead. The Wild scored less than a minute later, but the goal was overturned due to goalie interference. In the middle frame, Alex Tuch burst through Minnesota's defense to bury his third goal of the series & give Vegas a 2-0 lead. Mark Stone added a shorthanded goal on a breakaway to put Vegas ahead by three heading into the third period. VGK parked the bus in the third period as Roy's empty-net goal sealed the 4-0 win for the visitors.

X-Marks The Spot (x4) The Vegas Golden Knights are the fourth franchise in NHL history to make the playoffs in each of its first four seasons, following the (13; 1980–1992), New York Rangers (9; 1927–1935) &St. Louis Blues (6; 1968–1973). Each club did so under different rules &circumstances, with only Vegas & Edmonton achieving the feat after the 1967-68 expansion season.

Series Dubs & Final Four Appearances In 2020, Vegas became the third franchise in League history to earn at least one series win in two of its first three seasons & the first to reach the Conference Finals at least twice in its first three campaigns. The Golden Knights (5-3) now have as many or more series wins as five active NHL franchises.

Best Winning Percentage In Playoffs The Golden Knights enter their fourth postseason with a playoff win percentage of .608 (31-20 in 51 games played). That is the best winning percentage in the postseason in NHL history. The Edmonton Oilers, who rank second, have a winning percentage of .593 (160-110 in 270 games played).

Bringing Jennings Vibes Into The Postseason Vegas Golden Knights goaltenders Marc-Andre Fleury & Robin Lehner combined for a goals-against average of 2.18, good enough for the lowest GAA in the NHL this season, earning the duo the Jennings Trophy. It was the lowest GAA for a team since the Washington Capitals had 2.16 in 2016- 17. The tandem comes into the 2021 with the most playoff experience in the NHL (172 GP), with Robin Lehner (26 GP) playing the bulk of games in the 2020 postseason (16 of 20 games). Lehner matched the NHL record for shutouts in a single playoff series, blanking the three times in the 2020 Second Round.

Consecutive Playoff Flowers Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury passed Tony Esposito & became the first goaltender in NHL history – & 21st player at any position – to skate in 15 consecutive postseasons after starting Game 1 of the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs against Minnesota. Only four goaltenders in League history have made 15 playoff appearances at any point in their careers. He also holds the longest active streak amongst any player in the four major leagues (MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL). The full list of active athletes appearing in at least 12 consecutive playoffs is below. PLAYER LEAGUE CONSECUTIVE YEARS IN POSTSEASON Marc-Andre Fleury NHL 15 Tom Brady NFL 12

Stanley Cup Pedigree The Vegas roster includes four Stanley Cup champions: Marc-Andre Fleury (2009 PIT, 2016 PIT, 2017 PIT), Alec Martinez (2012 LAK, 2014 LAK), Alex Pietrangelo (2019 STL) & Chandler Stephenson (2018 WSH). Fleury is one of eight active NHL players – & the only active goaltender – with his name on the Cup at least three times; he can become the 13th netminder in NHL history to have his name engraved four or more times.

Flower In Full Bloom Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury (35 saves), who matched a career high for saves in a playoff shutout, backstopped the Golden Knights to victory in Game 4 against the Wild. It was his 16th career playoff shutout, tying Curtis Joseph for third place on the NHL’s all-time list. Fleury, with two or fewer goals allowed in each of his last 14 games dating back to the regular season (April 11 vs. ARI), has posted an outing of that nature in 72 of his 150 career playoff contests (48%).

Fleury Looking To Climb All-Time Rankings Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is the League’s active leader in playoff wins (84) & games played (150). He became the fifth goaltender in NHL history to appear in at least 150 playoff games, joining Patrick Roy (247), Martin Brodeur (205), Ed Belfour (161) & Grant Fuhr (150). He is within reach of equaling Billy Smith & Ed Belfour – who each have 88 wins – for fourth place in career playoff victories.

Orignial Misfits Ten current Golden Knights players helped the club reach the 2018 Final: William Carrier, Marc-Andre Fleury, William Karlsson, Jonathan Marchessault, Brayden McNabb, Tomas Nosek, Ryan Reaves, Reilly Smith, Shea Theodore & Alex Tuch.

Life of Reilly In The Postseason Vegas forward Reilly Smith is one of five players to play in all 51 postseason games in Golden Knights history & is the franchise leader in playoff assists (33) & points (45). He is one of 19 players in League history who have skated in each of a franchise’s first 50 all-time playoff games & only the second player to do it with a club that joined the NHL in the 1990s or later, joining Daniel Alfredsson (99 GP with OTT).

Corner Stone Vegas entered the playoffs with a designated for the first time, with Mark Stone donning the “C” after collecting 16-17—33 through 31 postseason games with the club. Stone ranks tied for seventh in the NHL for playoff points since 2019 when he joined the Golden Knights & he is one of six skaters with at least 16 goals since the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
