League Ball which was held on Wednesday, 25th August, in the Western Suburbs Club auditorium was a social and financial success. More people than last year attended this year and the Ball Committee of Mr. John Armstrong, Mr. Bill Wagener and Mr. Bill Bairstow have plans already for 1972. A highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Best and Fairest Medal winners by Mr. W. HART (League President) BALL MONSTER RAFFLE A successful adjunct to the Ball was the Monster Raffle. This was due to the prizes donated—such as Enough Paint to paint 1 room from Taubmans; 1 magnum from Wests; 2 Bottles Scotch Mist from House Committee; Valvoline Oil Changes from Scott Ridoutt; 6 cans from MacQuarie; Handmade Evening Bag (Mrs. Hammond), 1 travelling Clock from Easts; set of cuff links from Newtown; 1 bottle Scotch Mist from Scott Ridoutt; set of Whisky Glasses from St. George; 6 Free Car Washes from Auto Magic Car Wash; Carton Escort from John Crabb, John also arranged for the cigarettes on every table. All these prizes and more were drawn on the night. Set embroided pillow cases from Mr. and Mrs. R. Tubbs. Thanks to the support of all who attended the N.S.W. League's Annual Ball the magnificent sum of $696 was raised for League Funds. This Ball was a credit to all concerned in particular Russ Lockett and his staff at Wests Club and the hardworking Ball Committee of John Armstrong, Bill Wagener and Bill Bairstow. Of course special thanks to the Directors of Western Suburbs Club Ltd. for making the auditorium and the sparkling entertaining and the Graeme Bell Band available. QANTAS GOAL KICKING AWARD The results of the leading goalkickers contest were announced this week and North Shore ace goalgetter Jeff Trewin has won the first prize The Qantas Trip for two to New Zealand. This award very keenly contested during the season will be presented to Jeff Trewin by Mr. Peter Fussell from Qantas at half time in the main game. The Reserve Grade prize goes to John Woods of East Sydney and in Third Grade Balmain's diminutive forward Ken Ward won the prize. Some small con- solation for having been runner up in the last 2 Kealey Medals. ROTHMANS COACHING CLINICS The recent coaching clinics in Australian Rules conducted by the N.S.W. League under the auspices of the Rothmans National Sport Foundation were highly suc- cessful. In reporting to the Board the Chairman of the Rothmans Clinics Committee Mr. Felstead tabled the interim report from the Leagues Junior Organiser, Mr. Arthur Bridgewater. The main points of the report are as follows. Over 1100 boys were taken through the fundamentals of Australian Rules. Crack Adelaide (Centrals Club) School and Junior coaches Kevin Johns and John Spaans conducted the clinics with the assistance of several N.S.W. State players as assistant coaches. The response in most cases was very good and besides the boys there were hundreds of parents, Club Officials and school teachers observing these clinics. Our thanks to the Rothmans National Sport Foundation for their continuing support. G.P.S.
