Refoundry Seeking Summer Interns Refoundry is an innovative new not-for-profit that trains formerly incarcerated people to repurpose discarded materials into one-of-a-kind home furnishings and incubates participants into their own businesses. The start-up has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, ​ Fast Company, and elsewhere; its workshop is in located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and its ​ corporate offices are in . Refoundry just completed a successful pilot program and is preparing to build out and scale its model.

OPPORTUNITY #1 – Help formerly incarcerated pilot participants launch their own businesses We're seeking an intern to serve as point person for our five formerly incarcerated participants to help them transition from our two-year pilot program to independence. • Assist two people to formally establish their own nascent enterprises, helping them: build a budget and business plan; incorporate; identify and negotiate a lease for their new spaces, and plan and execute the move, and etc. • Facilitate a young business to build a 2-3 year plan for growth. •. Help prepare a fourth participant to transition from our program into the Columbia School of Social Work (fall 2017), including securing financing/scholarships.

OPPORTUNITY #2 – Work with Executive Director and Board to build organizational capacity We're seeking several interns to begin ASAP to assist our executive team in all aspects of operations and planning.

Financial and Operations • Organizing and managing Quickbooks • Assisting with grant-related financial and business planning • Assisting with 1023 application and taxes • Tracking donations

Grants and Fundraising • Grant research • High net worth individual research and outreach • Assistance in crafting fundraising materials • Editing and writing letters of interest and grant applications • Soliciting in-kind donors Marketing and Sales • Website updates and maintenance (Squarespace) • Social media posting • Image library organization and management • Design and management of communications/marketing • Assisting participants in getting retail placements

Event Management • Coordination of Hand-in-Hand activity (community-based art project) • Coordination of monthly Open Houses at Refoundry workshop • Planning for Refoundry event participation, such as Atlantic Antic (securing necessary street vendor licenses, etc.) • Event research to identify other criminal justice reform conferences or events we should attend or know about
