Alshire Records Discography
Alshire Discography by David Edwards, Mike Callahan & Patrice Eyries © 2018 by Mike Callahan Alshire International Records Discography Alshire was located at P.O. Box 7107, Burbank, CA 91505 (Street address: 2818 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90006). Founded by Al Sherman in 1964, who bought the Somerset catalog from Dick L. Miller. Arlen, Grit and Oscar were subsidiaries. Alshire was a grocery store rack budget label whose main staple was the “101 Strings Orchestra,” which was several different orchestras over the years, more of a franchise than a single organization. OTIS COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN MAGAZINE SPRING 2014 in this issue: 04 - ALUMNI AND FACULTY ISSUE 15 INSPIRED BY L.A. 06 - KEEPING IT SIMPLE AND FRESH: MEG CRANSTON 18 - OTIS REPORT ON THE CREATIVE ECONOMY: 1 IN 10 JOBS IN CA I remember L.A. as blackety-black shadows cast from brutalist blocks that take the history of architecture and reduce and contain it silently, like lunary tombs or Aztec temples morphed into Fome-Cor® cartoons. This kind of light makes decisions easier, more black and white. Good-vs-bad, pure-vs- impure, aspiration-vs-collapse, determined grim optimism-vs-self-indulgent despair. The suggestion of an old Hollywood mono- lithic black-and-white movie set encourages self-invention and self-consciousness as you make your way down an imaginary long white staircase. There’s not another living soul on the set and the spotlight is on you, wiping out any flaw or imperfection, hallucinating yourself into who you wanna be … exactly how I remember it … forward Fashion designer Rick Owens (’81) moved from L.A. to Paris in 2003. 01 03 05 06 1. WE RODE ALONE, OF COURSE A Collection of Short Stories RYAN T. MERRIMAN Bachelor of Arts in English Education Baldwin-Wallace University May 2009 submitted in partial of requirements for the degree MASTER OF FINE ARTS at the CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY May 2020 We hereby approve this thesis for RYAN MERRIMAN Candidate for the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing degree for the Department of English, the Northeast Ohio MFA Program and the CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY’S College of Graduate Studies by _________________________________________________________________ Thesis Chairperson, Eric Wasserman _____________________________________________ Department & Date _________________________________________________________________ Thesis Committee Member, Imad Rahman _____________________________________________ Department & Date _________________________________________________________________ Thesis Committee Member, Robert Pope _____________________________________________ Department & Date Student’s Date of Defense: March 20, 2020 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Warmest thanks to Imad Rahman, coordinator for the NEOMFA program at Cleveland State University. He took a chance on me and endured some of my roughest stories, especially during my first semester, where I realized that I had a lot of work to do. He was instrumental in my growth as a reader and writer. Warmest thanks to Robert Pope, professor emeritus from the University of Akron. He is, without question, one of happiest professors and individuals I have ever known. His contagious personality and encouragement went a long way in my first few semesters, as well as his honest feedback and suggestions. He once said I wrote a “beautiful essay” about a story we had read, and that comment meant so much. He has meant so much. Warmest thanks Eric Wasserman, professor at the University of Akron, as well as my thesis director. -

Ein Cyclus von Phantasiestücken, Op. 5 (1871) 21.32 Röntgen was a child prodigy and from an early 1 I Allegro con brio 3.34 age composed ambitious works for the piano. He 2 II Andante con espressione 1.42 frequently performed his own, and others, piano 3 II Allegretto moderato 3.10 concertos. Beethoven's Fourth and Brahms's Second 4 IV Andante con moto 2.45 were particular favourites. It was through 5 V Presto 3.43 6 VI Allegretto con grazia 2.11 performances of Beethoven's Piano Sonata op.111 and 7 VII Grave 4.27 Schumann's Etudes Symphoniques that Röntgen established himself. However, it was not as a soloist Neckens Polska Variationen über ein but as an accompanist that Röntgen would make a schwedisches Volkslied, Op. 11 (1874) 17.55 lasting impression.
