Special notes for Mac users. Attaching a JPG file to Apple Mail -- Apple Mail, the default email application with the Mac OS X operating system , lets you attach many types of files to your emails, including JPEG images, which often have the .JPG file extension. When you attach a JPEG image to your emails in Apple Mail, you can resize it to optimize it for email or you can send the full resolution. Although images appear in the body of the email on in Apple Mail on Mac OS X, they may appear as external attachments when the recipient views them. Size restrictions on JPEG image mail attachments depend on your email service provider. 1 Click the Mail icon in your Dock to open Apple Mail. If you don't have Mail in your Dock, you can also access it through your "Applications" folder. To add Mail to your Dock, drag the icon and drop it in the Dock. o 2 Click the "New Message" button to write a new email message. You can also select an email to reply to or forward. o 3 Click the "Attach" button. Locate the JPEG you want to attach to your email message. Then press the "Choose" button or press the "Enter" key. Your JPEG image will appear in the body of your email. o 4 Use the tab in the lower right corner of your email window to select a size for your image. Mail gives you the option to automatically resize as "small," "medium," "large" or "actual size." Note: For evaluations use “actual size”. o 5 Enter your text, recipient and subject; then send your email. File Name Characters Note:-The following reserved characters should not be used in file names. They have special meanings in Windows.
