Evening Meeting at Brick Court Chambers: Wednesday 27 September, 2017 at 6.00 pm
The CLA will be holding an evening meeting on Wednesday 27 September at Brick Court Chambers, 7-8 Essex Street, London WC2R 3LD. Registration for the event will start at 6pm followed by the lecture at 6:15pm.
Mark Humphries and David Wingfield have kindly agreed to speak on the following subject:
“Complex antitrust damages claims: the interchange litigation and certifying collective proceedings”
Mark Humphries is a commercial litigator and advocate. After 25 years with Linklaters he established his own boutique litigation firm in 2009. Humphries Kerstetter LLP acts for banks, corporates, SMEs and individuals, both claimants and defendants, in a wide range of complex commercial disputes. Since 2014 he has been involved in the interchange litigation representing merchants in their claims against MasterCard and Visa.
David Wingfield is a commercial barrister at Fountain Court Chambers. For over 25 years he has appeared as counsel on wide variety of commercial and public interest disputes and has extensive class action experience. Amongst his clients have been two Prime Ministers of Canada, the Governments of two Canadian Provinces, and international financial and commercial enterprises. Before joining the Bar, David was Senior General Counsel with the Canadian Department of Justice and head of the competition law division of Department of Justice where he was responsible for all of Canada's competition litigation
The session will be followed by refreshments. There is no additional charge for members. There will be a charge for non-members: £50, or £35 (full time academic/public sector employees), or £10 (students, trainees, pupil barristers).
On-line registration will close on Tuesday 26 September. Tickets will not be issued for this event.
