Behind the scenes of Macbeth The Time of Their Lives

Courtney Goldacker Staff Writer

William Shakespeare’s famous play Macbeth is a well known tragedy written about violence and a king’s rise to power. On April 27 and 28, the famous play made its way to the Windsor stage with a twist: all of the performers were teachers. The play was filled with blood and fighting; however, the humor from teach- ers’ forgotten lines during the first perfor- mance and a never-before-seen theatrical side of the teachers is what stole the show. One of the two performances sold out, with many seats filled with students, fellow teachers, and their families gathered to watch the per- formance. The play began with the appearance of a trio of witches, played by English teachers Whitney Crabtree, Michelle Dalaviras and JoAnn Marty. Macbeth, played by Michael Kraatz, re- ceives a prophecy from these witches that he will one day become the king of Scotland. Staff Writer Senior activities have always been a tradition at Wind- sor High School. It gives the graduating class a chance to enjoy the end of their school year and spend some of their last moments with good friends they might not see again. Like every year, the seniors had the privilege to be out of school all day to enjoy a day at the park. “This year I was looking forward to senior day at the park the most. Only seniors are there, and it’s just a day to relax, have fun, and not worry about any school work. It was a lot of fun,” senior Alex Moss said. The seniors had a blast hanging out with their friends and enjoying a stress free day at the park--which was more than well deserved. Senior activities such as senior day at the park, senior skip day and having a senior prank allows the graduating class their last memories at Windsor High School. Many seniors are ready to graduate and leave, but many are wor- ried about leaving their friends and entering a new world. “It’s sad that the year is coming to an end be- cause you are leaving all your friends, and senior ac- tivities are some of the last things you will get to do with each other,” senior Abby Jarman said.

Since the 2006 season, superstars such as the now-hated Albert Pujols, Barry Bonds and even Mariano Rivera have played at the new Busch Stadium in downtown St. Louis. Now the entire 2012 Windsor baseball team can say they have, too. The Windsor Owls took their win total into double digits with a 6-1 victory over the East Central Panthers at Busch Stadium on May 3. The Owls played their game after the Cardinals afternoon “travel day” game, a 6-3 loss to the the Pittsburgh Pirates. It was the first time that Windsor has ever played a game at Busch. In previous seasons the Owls had arranged to play an annual game at GCS Ballpark, the home of the Gate- way Grizzlies of the Frontier League, which is a low level of pro- fessional baseball. But this year, luck proved to be in Windsor’s favor, and the Owls managed to fill in an open slot at Busch, a position they hope to keep for many seasons to come. “I actually contacted (the Cardinals) and put our name on a waiting list to play there two years ago. Then this year they had a cancellation so they went ahead and contacted us to fill the empty slot,” athletic director Jason Naucke said.
