Dan Granata – Nomination for President – CTYH Current VP Hockey Operations CTYH I am asking you for your trust that I have the necessary passion, commitment and skills to continue to drive this organization in a growth direction. I have had the pleasure of meeting numerous players and parents in our club over the last 26+ months as the VP of Hockey Operations and have truly enjoyed my time working in the organization. I truly believe in teaming. Teaming is simple and it means "come together as a team to achieve a common goal". I am approachable, compassionate, and driven! As I look back and reflect at the last 26 + months that I served as your VP of Hockey Operations for Capital Thunder, there were definitely ups & downs with a few learning curves. We all learn from the positives and negatives in our lives and I am committed to our Thunder organization. I am here to provide the best overall hockey experience for our athletes and parents. With raising a disabled daughter for the last 21 years, I have learned to take those negatives and turn them into positives for her. When you have doctors and our society tell you it won't work or she can't do this because she is disabled, well you learn to fight harder for what you believe in. I believe in our Hockey organization and I believe in all of our athletes dreams! We are making big strides in our organization, and we have competitive teams in all divisions with other NorCal Hockey Clubs taking notice of our organization. Here is a list of my qualifications that I had previously submitted during the interim term for the position: Experience with youth sports organizations: I am dedicated to helping make the CTYH a premier youth hockey organization, focused on growing the number of young boys and girls that can gain life skills from participating in this sport. My oldest son played Bantams and Midget 16's & 18's with CTYH and my youngest is now playing with the Squirts. I plan to be an active member of this club for at least the next 9 seasons! I have coached several youth sports teams, including Rocklin Youth Soccer Club (3 seasons), CalFit Indoor Youth Soccer (2 seasons) and Rocklin Little League (7 seasons), providing me with insights and experience in the management and workings of other youth sports organizations, managing teams, relating to parents in both good times and in times of heightened emotions. I have been a team manager for several seasons with CTYH and American River Water Polo Club. I have been a member of the CTYH board as an Age Group Representative for the past 3 seasons and interim Head Commissioner for the current season. My greatest experiences and fondest memories of coaching were the players that I helped to develop and the joy that they got out of being a part of a team and playing the sport that they loved. Hanging out in the dugout or on the sidelines with my teams, listening to their stories about their day, teaching them life skills and lessons ... it is in those times that you realize that it has nothing to do with the parents or even that particular sport - it is and should always be about the kids and what they take away from their experience! One of the strengths I developed in my tenure with youth sports is my ability to listen to others, filter their feedback, gain consensus and understanding and make informed decisions. Ultimately, I want to make the best decisions that have a positive impact on the kids that are participating in this sport and that benefit our organization. Experience in my professional life: I have a degree in Business Management and Marketing from Sonoma State. I also hold a Certificate in Project Leadership from Cornell University and a Mini-MBA in Social Media Marketing from Rutgers University. I currently work as a Marketing Project Manager for Delta Dental. I manage Delta Dental's Individual Line of Business for DeltaCare USA, Costco and eHealth. I also hold the position of Managing Partner of The Marketing Department - Sacramento (www.tmdsacramento.com) as well as the owner of a Social Media Management company (www.sactosocialmedia.com). Previously I held several positions within Allstate Insurance Company from claims, to finance, to product management and marketing. I have been heavily involved in managing major projects and sports sponsorships with organizations such as the Sacramento Kings, SF Giants, LA Dodgers, USC Trojans and the Sacramento Capitals World Team Tennis. Budget development, negotiation, tracking and implementation. Tradeshow development, organization and execution. I have experience managing teams of employees of up to 25 direct reports. I have experience in developing and administering training programs - live webcast, one-on-one and in large groups of 200+ Allstate agency owners. I feel that my experience in youth sports and professionally would be an asset to CTYH and would love to continue to serve the board in the capacity of the Head Commissioner. Thank you for your consideration.
