No.UMC/General Election - 2017/ /2016 The State Election Commissioner, Maharashtra proposes to make the following Draft Notification under section 5 (3), 5 A and Section 14 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, (Bom.LIX of 1949) (hereinafter referred to as the “said Act’’) to fix for the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, the number and the extent of the wards into which the said municipal area shall be divided and to specify the wards reserved for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens and women (including women belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens) as the case may be, as shown in the Schedule to this Draft order.
2. And whereas the said Draft Order is hereby published as required by the section 5(3) of the said Act for information of all the residents within the jurisdiction of the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation. And whereas, vide order No. SEC/MUN- 2014/Table-26/Desk-5, dated 06/02/2015. The State Election Commission, Maharashtra, has conferred its rights to Municipal Commissioner, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation to publish the draft in the Official Gazette, Accordingly this Draft Notification is being published and the said draft will be taken into consideration by the State Election Commissioner, Maharashtra or the officer authorised by him for this purpose after 25/10/2016
3. And whereas, all persons who desire to raise any objections or suggestions to this draft should submit the same to the Municipal Commissioner, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation in writing with reasons on or before Dated 25/10/2016 objections or suggestions received thereafter will not be considered.
Draft Notification
WHEREAS, The State Election Commissioner, Maharashtra has specified for Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, under Section 5A of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, the number of seats to be reserved for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens and Women (including women belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens) as shown below:-
1. The Number of Councillors to be elected -- 78 2. The Number of seats to be reserved (a) For the Scheduled Castes -- 13 (b) For the Scheduled Tribes -- 01 (c) For the Backward Class of Citizens -- 21 3. The total number of seats to be reserved for women (including women belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens) -- 39 4. Out of seats at serial number 3, the number of seats reserved for the women belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens, from amongst the seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens, as shown in item at serial number 2(a), (b) and (c) respectively are as under:- (a) For the Scheduled Castes -- 07 (b) For the Scheduled Tribes -- 00 (c) For the Backward Class of Citizens -- 11 (d) Number of seats reserved for women as general category -- 21 (Number of seats at serial number 3 minus seats at serial number 4) 5. 2. Now, therefore, in exercise of section 5(3), 5A and section 14 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, The State Election Commissioner, Maharashtra State hereby fix the number and extent of the wards into which the said Municipal Corporation area shall be divided and specify the wards in which seats shall be reserved for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Backward Class of the citizens and women (including women belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, the Backward class of citizens), as the case may be, as shown in the schedule to this Notification.
3. This Notification shall take effect for the purpose of the next general election held immediately following the date of this Notification.
NOTE : 1. The Reservation indicated in the Schedule for the Backward Class of Citizens and women including seats reserved for women belonging to the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes and the Backward Class of Citizens is as per the lots drawn on dated 30-09-2016.
2. While finalising the wards, if limits of any ward are changed and due to which change in reservation becomes necessary then draw for reservation will be done again.
3. A map of the Municipal Corporation showing the limits of the wards is available during office hours for inspection in the office of the Municipal Corporation.
