Experts Weigh In On Plastic Surgery Rumor Image Courtesy of ABC ‘Bachelor’ runner-up Raven Gates showed up to ‘After The Final Rose’ on March 13 looking totally gorgeous… and a little bit different. Fans immediately started to speculate about whether or not she got a nose job after the show. So what do the experts think? Raven Gates, 25, has always been stunningly beautiful, but we can’t deny that her nose seemed a little bit more refined on The Bachelor: After The Final Rose special on March 13. But what do we know? A face can change with anything from a nose job to a little more makeup contouring to a different camera angle. So we asked some experts what they think is to blame for Nick Viall’s runner-up’s new look. Plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn, tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that “she definitely appears to have undergone a nose job. Her nose is thinner, straighter, and shorter than it used to be. Overall, it fits her face nicely.” Woah! If she really did have work done, we can’t help but agree. It would have to be super subtle, because it looks tasteful and beautiful. “It appears that, yes, Raven has had a rhinoplasty,” explained Dr. Norman Rowe, MD. “The tip of Raven’s nose is smaller, more narrow and more refined. Also, both the tip and area between her nostrils do not hang as low as in the before image. These changes can only be accomplished with a rhinoplasty.” Dr. Kirk Brandow, a plastic surgeon out of Philly agrees with our other two experts. “It looks like Raven had a rhinoplasty because they narrowed the tip of her nose slightly and released the ligament which creates the plunging tip,” he explained. “The way that we know is the tip looks more defined: the nostrils don’t flare when she widely smiles, and the most telling is she no longer has the plunging tip which you can see when she smiles. Now her tip has come up and looks natural. The nose job she had was excellent as you cannot tell unless you are an expert. .

Computers & Writing Proceedings, 2016–2017 From Slut Shaming to Cultural Commentary: What Live Tweeting Practices of Viewers of ABC’s The Bachelorette Reveal about Gender Policing and Digital Activism on Twitter Melissa Ames, Eastern Illinois University This article analyzes live tweets posted by viewers of ABC’s The Bachelorette during a network- promoted scandal concerning the star’s sexual activity on the reality TV program. This study notes how problematic gender norms were reinforced within the conversation unfolding on Twitter and how a subset of tweets served to critique the sexism found within the program, the Twitter feed, and in society more generally. As these tweets attempting to combat gender norms can be considered a form of digital activism, this study also analyzes the ways in which Twitter’s particular communication format might complicate and/or interfere with their desired societal critiques. On June 22, 2015, the Twitterverse erupted when the star of ABC’s The Bachelorette had sex with one of her male suitors prior to the show’s pre-approved, pre-scripted timeline. Far from being a PG-rated reality TV franchise, the long-running show is well known for broadcasting a slew of make out sessions and an entire episode devoted to speculating on whether the bachelor or bachelorette will sleep with any or all of his or her final three contestants in the fantasy suite.
