PLAY COMPETITIVE HOCKEY
Luc Haggitt Luc Haggitt, of Spanish Fort, excels in a sport that’s tough to play in the south: hockey. As a Baldwin County Virtual School student, he is able to keep up with classes while living in Atlanta, New Hampshire and Minnesota where he plays competitively on year-round teams. “This gives me the ability to go far away to chase after a dream,” said Haggitt, a senior, who also hopes to play on the college ice. “If I was in school all day I wouldn’t be able to play at this level.” He said he doesn’t miss any of the typical high school experiences since the Virtual School hosts its own prom and graduation ceremony. And he has met more friends than he expected. “At first I thought I would be alone all the time but when you go in for tests or are on campus for something you talk to people you learn why they’re in virtual school too. It’s pretty cool.”
