Its follow-up, La forza della ragione (The Force of Reason), has already sold 800,000 copies since its publication in 2004. In other words, Oriana Fallaci has emerged after 9/11 as the strongest and most vocal Italian representative of the “clash of civilisations” theory. This essay analyses the constitutive elements of her discourse (Italian nationalism, values instead of history and politics, and violent speech conflating Islam, terrorism and immigrants) and tries to understand its appeal and the sources of its authority in Fallaci’s career, in order to outline the specific Italian version of the clash of civilisations “theory”. -

STATE-DIALOGUE IN ITALY AND GERMANY FOR PROMOTING INTEGRATION OF MUSLIMS. Italy and Germany are following the example of other EU-countries and have started to establish a dialogue between the state and Muslim communities in order to promote integration. The objective of these initiatives is to develop joint and commonly owned solutions with representatives of Muslim communities, and to strengthen the moderate voices with a view to preventing radicalization. Due to divisions within and the heterogeneity of the Muslim minorities in both countries it has so far not been possible to establish single Muslim representations with genuinely representative organs. Therefore both initiatives in Italy and Germany followed a top-down approach with the Ministers of Interior carefully selecting the members of these Councils and thus establishing a forum of state- dialogue for the first time. The future will show whether this policy is successful. The Blood of Love
The blood of love The martyrs of Algeria (1994-1996) The Church of Algeria This booklet presents a group of nineteen martyrs of the Church of Algeria. All were passionate about their Church, of which they were zealous servants, and passionate also about Algeria and its people where they had weaved their friendships. Humble and gentle, the Lord radiated from their hearts, in their lives and in their silence. They witnessed to a settled, lucid faith, the faith of those preparing the space for dialogue in their prayer and in their presence. They are a very beautiful image of the Church of Algeria: small, a few thousand faithful people, dispersed in four dioceses: Alger, Oran, Constantine- Ippone et Laghouat. It is a living Church by its poverty as it has lost its social power and pomp. Daily, it lives love and service. Thus purified and without ambitions, it can be a bridgehead for dialogue with Islam. They are the descendants of the disciples of Jesus Christ & the descendants of other Jews, Philistines, Arabs, Aramaeans/Eremites, Canaanites, Greeks, Romans, Persians & Samaritans... who accepted the Messiah when He was with them in the flesh. Today, they live in Nazareth, Bethlehem, Gaza, Nablus, Ramallah, Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa, Jenin, Taybeh, Birzeit, Jifna, al-Bireh, Zababdeh, Tel Aviv, Tubas, Azzun, Aboud, Tiberias, Sakhnin, Shefa-'Amr, Galilee, Jish, Amman, & other places in the Biblical Palestine & Jordan, in addition to the exile. They are Arab Christian Believers of Oriental Orthodox, Eastern Orthodox, Catholic (eastern & western rites), Protestant, Evangelical & other denominations, who have ethnic or family origins in Palestine. In both the local dialect of Palestinian Arabic and in classical or modern standard Arabic, Christians are called Nasrani (a derivative of the Arabic word for Nazareth, al-Nasira) or Masihi (a derivative of Arabic word Masih, meaning "Messiah"). Christians comprise less than 4% of Palestinian Arabs living within the borders of former Mandate Palestine today (around 4% in the West Bank, a negligible percentage in Gaza, and nearly 10% of Israeli Arabs). According to official British Mandate estimates, Mandate Palestine’s Christian population varied between 9.5% (1922) and 7.9% (1946) of the total population. Demographics and Denominations Today, the majority of Palestinian Christians live abroad. In 2005, it was estimated that the Christian population of the Palestinian territories was between 40,000 and 90,000 people, or 2.1 to 3.4% of the population. -

Certaines convergences étranges d’un extrême à l’autre du spectre idéologique, dans la réception de ces événements, traduisent des affinités à la fois dans les modes de représentation de la situation contemporaine et les modes de positionnement face à celle-ci. -

Grief turned quickly to public anger, especially among young educated students who took part in the huge protests at Dink’s funeral. A Turkish journalist of Armenian origin, Dink had worked strenuously to improve relations between Turks and Armenians.
