Code: GPM – 128 Credits: T2PO Periods/week: 02 Marks: 100 30hrs

Objectives: To create awareness regarding current trends, issues and researches related to various aspects of Apparel Production and Export Management.

Guidelines Students will present seminar on topics related to current and emerging issues in different areas of apparel designing, construction, production, fashion, textiles, marketing and export management etc. Students will present the seminar along with power point on the given topic and shall be evaluated by a panel of judges appointed by the Principal.

13 SEMESTER II TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY Code: GPM-221 Credits: T2P0 Periods/Week:02 30 hrs Marks: 100(CA-30, SEE-70)

Objectives: 1. To develop an understanding of and printing techniques. 2. To acquaint students with various fabric finishes. 3. To introduce different testing equipment and methods used for assessing the quality of fabric.

SEMESTER II RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND STATISTICS

Objectives: 1. To help students develop the skills needed in conducting a research. 2. To introduce students to the skills in report writing. 3. To acquaint students with basic statistical techniques and their application.

UNIT I 06hrs • Introduction to research methodology:-Definition and concept of research, objectives, types of research, approach and research process. • Defining the research problem:- selecting the problem, necessity of defining the research problem, hypothesis, basic assumption and limitations of a problem. • Research Design:- meaning, need for research design, features of good research design, important concepts related to research design and types of research design.

UNIT II 05 hrs • Data Gathering Instruments: - Questionnaire and schedules, their construction, technique of data collection, scrutiny of data, accuracy of measurements, testing of a questionnaire and observation. • Types of Sample Designs, methods of selecting a random sample, random sample from universe, concepts of sample size determination

UNIT III 07 hrs • Statistical analysis of data:- editing, coding, classification, tabulation of data, frequency distributions, diagrammatic: one dimensional(simple bar) and two dimensional(pie diagram). • Graphic presentation of data: histogram, frequency polygon, frequency curve and ogives. • Measures of central tendency-mean, median, mode. Measure of dispersion –range, quartile deviation, mean deviation, Standard deviation.

UNIT IV 07 hrs • Sampling distribution and Standard Error. Types of errors. • Level of significance, large sample test for proportions, single mean and difference in two means. • Application of t-test for single mean, for difference of means (independent and paired- t).Chi-square test for population variance. Chi-square Test(Goodness of fit, Independence of attributes using 2x2 and rxc contingency tables)

Objectives: 1. To enable students to use and practice garment construction. 2. To create apparel according to the trend in export market.

CONTENT • Preliminary survey to find the recent trends in export market. 12 hrs

• Designing garments as per export market requirement 46 hrs Prepare paper patterns by making adaptations in basic blocks and constructing the following – o Skirt o Top o A Line dress/One piece dress o Gents Shirt Prepare drafting file, mentioning drafting instructions, preparing drafts, layouts and costing.

• Design a ladies wear with surface ornamentation. 12 hrs

• Procure order for any two garments and stitch them as per the design 20 hrs and measurement given by the customer, check fitting and make necessary alternations.

Objectives: 1. To create awareness regarding current trends, issues and researches related to various aspects of Clothing & Textiles. 2. To gain practical experience in different units of clothing and textile industry.

In the end of II Semester, students will undergo internship training of 45 days in a textile designing unit/ apparel manufacturing unit/ textile dyeing and printing unit/ apparel export unit/ boutiques/ fashion houses etc., so that they get to understand the existing working practices, conditions and acquire an in-depth technical know how of the unit.

The students shall prepare a report on the visit made by the organization. The student will submit the report and will be required to make the presentation of the work followed by viva voce. The student will be required to get the certificate regarding successful training.

Evaluation: Panel of examiners consisting of Head of the department, and two other examiners appointed by the Principal shall conduct a vice-voce and evaluate the reports. The students will be given marks out of 100, which will be converted to credits as per the programme.

The students are required to carry forward their project under taken in semester III.

• Writing and submitting a project report with a chapter on each of the following: Introduction, Review of literature, Scope of the Study, Methodology, Results and Discussion, Summary and Conclusion and Suggestions for further studies.

• Submission of Project Report (4 copies) orally defending the report and power point presentation followed by viva voice.
