7. Technical Services

1. Designed a ruler to measure the response time for the Directorate of Traffic. 2. Designed a basic system to measure foot-eyes response time for Directorate of Traffic. 3. Designed a cooling helmet for the traffic police, (under modification). 4. Solved a problem relating to the deficiency of sound in a loudspeaker and saved the Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs an amount of BD. 12,000 ($30,000).

11 5. Derived an equation, which relates the feet length with the body height for the Bahrain National Museum. 6. Tested the sound intensity levels and noise prevention at the Ministry of Works, Power and Electricity. 7. Fixed the first wind generator in Bahrain, financed by Bahrain Studies and Research Center. 8. Designed a proper recording studio for the Bahrain Classical Music Institute (Madar Studio). 9. Made a full study for the distribution of sirens for Ministry of Interior during the Gulf Crisis, 1991. 10. Held a seminar about the estimation of the R E Resources in Bahrain. 11. Chaired many technical sessions in international conferences on renewable energy and environment. 12. Represented the State of Bahrain (head of delegation) for COMSTECH-7, COMSTECH-9 and COMSTECH-10 i.e. Islamic Committee for Science and Technology in December 26-28, 1995, November 16-18, 1999 and February 1518, 2002 in Islamabad, Pakistan. 13. Installed a Solar Energy System in 1996 to produce electricity for the Security Personnel of University of Bahrain. It operates computer, light, fan, walky talkies. Effort is in process to operate air conditioners of low power compressor. 14. Constructed a Wind Energy System to operate beacon light between Hawar Island and Bahrain. 15. Developed a laboratory in Solar Energy and Environmental Physics. Installed a very advanced rotating pyrometer (RSP) a no. 26 worldwide, 1995. 16. Installed a prototype first solar post light for streets at University of Bahrain, Campus, 1995. 17. Installed the first wind power driven beacon at the physics lab. roof to be shifted to the sea for lighting the way from to Hawar, 1996. 18. Installed for the Engineering Society, Bahrain (Science Open Day) a Solar Wind Energy electricity generator for computers, 1996. 19. Co-inventor for a Mobile Solar Powered Water Desalination Unit operating on Reverse Osmosis principle (~300 gallons of water/day), 1998-99 20. Inventor for Mobile Solar-Wind Unit (2 kW), 1998-99; a contract project for Bahrain National Gas Co. 21. Keynote speaker in the 7th Arab Energy Conference, Cairo, May 11th 2002 (organized by OAPIC). 22. Conducted and Publish an important Archeological astronomical finding in Bahrain Fort regarding the perpendicularity of the sun at sunset on a certain window in the national day of Bahrain(16 Dec each year).The finding had been officially checked and supported by experiment.

12 23. Conducted many lectures and refereed many projects for Globe Program students. 24. Reviewed and corrected the material to be put as panels in the Space Vogue Exhibition (Mrs Altaf Al Kalifa), organized by Crown Prince Court, Oct 2005 at Bahrain. 25. Wrote a book for the Bahrain International Gardening Exhibition ,March 2004.The book entitled " The star mansions and the Tree care".( Coauthor) 26. Founder and Coordinator for Establishing a LowcarbonBuilding at Bapco using Fuel Cell, Solar and Wind Energy as well as producing Oxygen and Hydrogen using solar and wind power at Awali in cooperation with Heleocentris Company, Germany. Project started in June 2008 and will finish in February 2010. 27. Installed 4 wind turbines ( total 800 W) and 4 solar panels ( total 1000 W) on a pole to operate LED lights for the inner yard of UoB using 8 storage batteries (deep cycle) - it becomes a landscape. 28. Lead and Supervised Participate in modifying Solar Race Boat for University of Bahrain ( 1993). 29. Chairman of a Committee, King Hamad Prize for Best Research in Agriculture, Kingdom of Bahrain, 2014. 30. Designed a 24 hrs running Solar Fountain, using 200 W of PV, Charge regulation, 100Ah battery.

13. Research Cooperation

It was a great pleasure to work with Professor A. Seeger, Director of Max-Planck Institute for Metallurgy and Gold Medalist in Metal (awarded by the Japan Institute of Metals). He worked with Prof. N. Mott (the Nobel Prize Scientist) in Oxford University. Two weeks were spent with Prof. A. Seeger at the Physics Department, University of Bahrain from December 22, 1993 to January 7, 1994.
