District C Happenings – Winter 2019 Happy New Year! 2019 will certainly be a “new” year. A new Governor, a new CCSD Superintendent, a new Downtown casino (CIRCA), a new Las Vegas Ballpark (AAA Baseball), new homes, new roads and three new County Commissioners (Tick Segerblom, Justin Jones and Mike Naft). Most importantly, a new year brings the hope for better things ahead. On behalf of our District C team, I extend best wishes for health and happiness in 2019! Enjoy our newsletter and as always, if you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact us. Lone Mountain Improvements Update Continued Centennial Bowl Update US 95 & Kyle Canyon Interchange Update This project was discussed in detail last newsletter, but here is a quick overview along with some updated information. The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) last January broke ground on a $78 million widening and upgrade to a six-mile-long stretch of U.S. Highway 95 between Ann and Kyle Canyon roads in northwest Las Vegas. The project calls for expanding the highway from four to six lanes from Durango Drive to Kyle Canyon Road, constructing Elkhorn Road carpool access ramps and building a diverging diamond interchange at Kyle Canyon Road that temporarily shifts traffic to the left side of the road, thereby keeping traffic flowing through two pairs of unimpeded left turns onto and off the freeway. The interchange will additionally feature self-contained wrong way driver alert signs, which have been proven to reduce wrong-way events by 38 percent. Updated information The northbound U.S. Highway 95 bridge to Kyle Canyon Road was 90 percent complete. The concrete post-tensioned steel reinforced structure is scheduled to finish the end of first quarter. The High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Elkhorn Road ramps to U.S. Highway 95 are also 90 percent complete and scheduled to finish this summer. The open flood control channel north and south of Durango Drive is complete. However, minor drainage upgrade work is still underway at the new Kyle Canyon Drive interchange. Asphalt paving along the westside of Kyle Canyon Drive is now underway, with anticipated completion this summer. Conduit is being placed for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) from Durango Drive to Sky Canyon Parkway; traffic signal and high mast lighting infrastructure is being placed at Kyle Canyon Drive and U.S. Highway 95. Landscaping work is still progressing with placement of decorative rock along the westside of Kyle Canyon Drive. Mt.
