A Letter to Pope Francis Concerning His Past, the Abysmal State of Papism, and a Plea to Return to Holy Orthodoxy
A Letter to Pope Francis Concerning His Past, the Abysmal State of Papism, and a Plea to Return to Holy Orthodoxy The lengthy letter that follows was written by His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Piraeus, Seraphim, and His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Dryinoupolis, Andrew, both of the Church of Greece. It was sent to Pope Francis on April 10, 2014. The Orthodox Christian Information Center (OrthodoxInfo.com) assisted in editing the English translation. It was posted on OrthodoxInfo.com on Great and Holy Monday, April 14, 2014. The above title was added for the English version and did not appear in the Greek text. Metropolitan Seraphim is well known and loved in Greece for his defense of Orthodoxy, his strong stance against ecumenism, and for the philanthropic work carried out in his Metropolis (http://www.imp.gr/). His Metropolis is also well known for Greece’s first and best ecclesiastical radio station: http://www.pe912fm.com/. This radio station is one of the most important tools for Orthodox outreach in Greece. Metropolitan Seraphim was born in 1956 in Athens. He studied law and theology, receiving his master’s degree and his license to practice law. In 1980 he was tonsured a monk and ordained to the holy diaconate and the priesthood by His Beatitude Seraphim of blessed memory, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece. He served as the rector of various churches and as the head ecclesiastical judge for the Archdiocese of Athens (1983) and as the Secretary of the Synodal Court of the Church of Greece (1985-2000). In December of 2000 the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarch elected him as an auxiliary bishop of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in which he served until 2002. -

On behalf of the people of Kenya, I register my appreciation to the Commonwealth for bestowing the privilege to Kenya to host this meeting for the second time. We are welcoming WAMM back to Nairobi, its place of inception in 1985. Your choice of Nairobi is an indication of the confidence you have in our country in convening successful regional and international events. Indeed, we have at your disposal excellent and conducive facilities that will enable purposeful deliberations for the attainment of realistic outcomes for the benefit of all the Commonwealth member states. I am aware that this meeting has been preceded by two notable events: the Civil Society roundtable convened by the Commonwealth Foundation, and the Senior Officers’ Meeting, all which will contribute to the key outcomes of the 12th WAMM. -
Diamond Jubilee His Highness the Aga Khan Iv [1957 – 2017]
DIAMOND JUBILEE HIS HIGHNESS THE AGA KHAN IV [1957 – 2017] . The Diamond Jubilee What is the Diamond Jubilee? The Diamond Jubilee marks the 60th anniversary of His Highness the Aga Khan’s leadership as the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Shia Ismaili Muslim Community. On 11th July, 1957, the Aga Khan, at the age of 20, assumed the hereditary office of Imam established by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), following the passing of his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan. Why is the Community celebrating His Highness the Aga Khan’s Diamond Jubilee? The commemoration of the Aga Khan’s Diamond Jubilee is in keeping with the Ismaili Community’s longstanding tradition of marking historic milestones. Over the past six decades, the Aga Khan has transformed the quality of life of hundreds of millions of people around the world. In the areas of health, education, cultural revitalisation, and economic empowerment, he has inspired excellence and worked to improve living conditions and opportunities in some of the world’s most remote and troubled regions. The Diamond Jubilee is an opportunity for the Shia Ismaili Muslim community, partners of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), and government and faith community leaders in over 25 countries to express their appreciation for His Highness’s leadership and commitment to improve the quality of life of the world’s most vulnerable populations. It is also an occasion for His Highness to recognise the friendship and longstanding support of leaders of governments and partners in the work of the Imamat and to set the direction for the future. -

An Observance for Commonwealth Day 2015
An Observance for Commonwealth Day 2015 In the presence of Her Majesty The Queen His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge Monday 9th March 2015 at 3.15 pm A Young Commonwealth The Commonwealth theme for 2015 The Abbey is served by a hearing loop. Users should turn their hearing aids to the setting marked T. Members of the congregation are kindly requested to refrain from using private cameras, video, or sound-recording equipment. Please ensure that mobile phones, pagers, and other electronic devices are switched off. It is my great pleasure, as Chairman of the Council of Commonwealth Societies, to welcome you to this very special event. In a deeply disturbed and uneasy world, the Commonwealth family assembles once again at Westminster Abbey to celebrate and give thanks for our unity, friendship, shared purpose and values. With half of the Commonwealth’s peoples being under twenty-five, this is the family and the network in which tomorrow meets today, in which the aspiring young who are the future come together with those who have built the past and the present. Today there are forces and trends at work more powerful than any single government that are binding together the young people of all Commonwealth countries as never before—and in ways which would have astounded their forbears. A new kind of Commonwealth is emerging. Instantaneous contact, and constant and open communication unite schoolchildren and students, professional people of all kinds, sportsmen and women in every field, entrepreneurs, ideas and investors, artists and authors, faiths and friends in a daily conversation and worldwide association the like of which exists nowhere else. -
