6 -Rock Football Game Notes ZAFFRAM PANS OUT AS EXPECTED Slippery Rock started three freshmen linebackers in 2017 and struggled for veteran leadership from the linebacking spot, so the coaching staff went out and signed junior college transfer Brad Zaffram from Jones County to fill that role. He stepped up, earning first team All-PSAC honors in his first season at SRU. Zaffram, who missed the first game of the year, leads the team with 70 total tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss and seven pass breakups. He’s done all that while playing the first half of the year with a cast on a broken hand. MOST PENALIZED TEAM IN THE COUNTRY Slippery Rock finished with a season-low 56 yards in penalties last week, but still enters the first round of the playoffs ranked last in the nation in Division II in terms of total penalties (116), penalties per game (10.5), total penalty yards (1,207) and penalty yards per game (109.7).
