SAC Relays Walnut, Calif. including the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. The No. 16 Red Raiders and No. 15 Lady Raiders will also compete at the Azusa April 25 Red Raider Invitational Lubbock, Texas Pacific Bryan Clay Invitational, the Long Beach State Invitational along with the Baylor Michael Johnson/Dr. Pepper Invitational. May 3-5 Big 12 Championships Waco, Texas Texas Tech enters the weekend of competition fresh off a successful showing at the Texas Invitational in Austin, and with a total of May 23-25 NCAA West Preliminaries Austin, Texas 12 national top-20 marks. June 5-8 NCAA Championships Eugene, Ore. The contingent is led by sophomore thrower Kole Weldon who enters the week No. 2 in the men’s shot put while sophomore sprinter Cierra White and senior jumper Bryce Lamb own top-20 marks in multiple events. The Red Raiders and Lady Raiders are set to return to Lubbock and host their final home outdoor meet of the season April 25 with the Red Raider Open. White swept both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash at the annual UTEP Springtime Invitational leaping to No. 1 nationally in the 100 meters with a time of 11.09, and No. 2 in the 200 meters with a school record time of 22.91. White was a member @Converted for Altitude of the 2013 Indoor All-American 4x400 relay team and earned second team All-America honors last year in the outdoor 200-meter dash. She is the first Texas Tech sophomore to earn the recognition since Olympic Silver Medalist Sally Kipyego in 2007. RED RAIDERS, LADY RAIDERS - A CONSTANT IN THE TOP-25 The Red Raiders enter the Texas Tech Open No. 14 in the USTFCCCA Rankings while the Lady Raiders enter No. 13 in the Week 1 poll released Tuesday. It marked the 33rd consecutive USTFCCCA ranking in the top-20 and the 47th consecutive in the top-25 for the Red Raiders. The Red Raiders haven’t been ranked outside the top-25 since Week 5 of the 2008 regular season. The Lady Raiders have not been ranked outside the top-25 during the regular season since 2011 - a streak of 20-straight regular season computer rankings. KITHUKA TABBED TO APRIL MEN’S BOWERMAN WATCH LIST Texas Tech senior and 2013 NCAA Indoor 5,000-meter Champion Kennedy Kithuka remained on The Bowerman Watch List as the April edition was released Wednesday afternoon. Kithuka joins a list of 10 elite track and field athletes from across the nation, and is one of just two men’s athletes from the Big 12 appearing on the official watch list. The Bowerman will be awarded following the conclusion of the outdoor season in June and recognizes the top men’s and women’s athletes in collegiate track and field. During a prolific 2013 indoor track season, Kithuka became Texas Tech’s first male NCAA Champion in the men’s 5,000-meter run while also capturing Big 12 titles in both USTFCCCA 2013 OUTDOOR RANKINGS the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter run. Kithuka recorded the nation’s fastest time in the 5,000-meter run for the 2013 indoor season after clocking a school record time of 13:26.65 at the Tyson Invitational. The performance was more than 10 seconds faster than the second best collegiate time of the season. White broke the school record in the 200-meter dash at the UTEP Invitational with a time of 22.91 after recording a season-best 11.09 (converted to 11.12 for altitude) in the 100-meter dash. White went 22.99 in the 200-meter dash last weekend at the Texas Invitational Candace Jackson 23.55 35 in Austin and leads the Big 12 in the 100-meter dash and is No. 2 in the 200-meter dash.
