  • Title: Regarding Demand for Behrampore-Karimpur Via Domkal Islampur New Railway Line in Murshidabad District in West Bengal
an> Title: Regarding demand for Behrampore-Karimpur via Domkal Islampur new railway line in Murshidabad district in West Bengal. SHRI MD. BADARUDDOZA KHAN (MURSHIDABAD): Madam Speaker, I would like to raise an old demand of my constituency, that is, regarding a new railway line. The demand is that a new railway line should be constructed from Baharampur to Krishnanagar via Damkol, Islampur, Jalangi and Karimpur. I have written so many letters to the Railway Minister in this regard and I met him also many times. Finally I got to know from the Railway Minister that they are doing an updating survey for this line between Baharampur and Karimpur which is 70 kms. It is good and I am thankful to the hon. Railway Minister for this. But, in this year's Budget, I demand, through you, that some money should be allotted for this project so that this project may be done very quickly. Madam, I have one more demand. There is a branch of the Aligarh Muslim University in Murshidabad District of West Bengal. An amount of Rs. 107 crore has been sanctioned for this university. But only Rs. 60 crore has been released so far and the remaining amount of Rs. 47 crore is not being released by the UGC. I have raised this matter with the HRD Minister many times. The former HRD Minister is here and I have raised this with the new HRD Minister also several times. But the fund has not yet been released. So, I request the HRD Minister to look into this matter so that the fund is released very quickly.
