Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country earlier this year the eff ects of the outbreak have reached every corner of the U.S. and has had a devasta ng impact on ci zens and businesses across the na on. The Cardinals organiza- on – along with the players and staff – immediately mobilized to donate me, money and other resources throughout Arizona to assist the individuals, busi- nesses, schools, frontline health care personnel and other organiza ons that have been so greatly aff ected by the crisis. $1 MILLION FOUNDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE AZ CORONAVIRUS RELIEF FUND On March 24, the Cardinals made a $1 million founding contribu on to the AZ Coronavirus Relief Fund. Non-profi t organiza ons that support the most vulnerable Arizonans through food banks, homeless shelters, domes c violence facili es, and other services. Providing disadvantaged students with the technology necessary to transi on to online learning. “Like so many in our community, this unprecedented crisis has us asking what we can do to help and what might have the greatest impact,” said Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill said of the dona on. “We are grateful for the crea on of this relief fund, are proud to support its cri cally important mission and hope that others throughout the community can join this eff ort in whatever way that they are able. As a team, we will con nue to work on addi onal ways to make a diff erence and know that as a community we will get through this challenging me together.” To assist local businesses during the crisis, the Cardinals made a $100,000 dona on to Local First Arizona, Arizona’s Coronavirus Micro Grant Fund MILLION MEALS DONATION TO LOCAL FOOD BANKS In early April, the Cardinals and State Farm partnered on an historic ini a ve to address a pressing local need arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. In the spirit of the NFL Dra , the team selected establishments from the map each day and purchased meals which were delivered to nurses, doctors, fi rst responders and others who work daily to combat the impact of COVID-19. When it was launched, the fi rst 47 establishments on the map refl ected the favorites of Car- dinals players and staff as well as those near area hospitals suggested by Local First Arizona. HOSTING CRITICAL BLOOD DRIVES, DRIVETHROUGH TESTING AND PPE DRIVES AT STATE FARM STADIUM One area hit par cularly hard by the COVID-19 crisis was the local blood dona on community, where the supply reached cri cally low levels during a crucial me in March. In a seven-day span between March 19 and March 26, nearly 200 blood drives in Arizona were cancelled, resul ng in the loss of more than 5,000 blood dona ons for hospital pa ents. To assist in mee ng this direly pressing need, the Cardinals partnered with Dignity Health and Cigna to host a major one-day blood drive at State Farm Stadium.
