4 CLUB ETIQUETTE FOR MEN AND LADIES Practicing on the course is prohibited anywhere but on the defined practice fairway, except that a member may play a practice round having not more than two balls in play, but not when competitions are in progress. No one should move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is addressing the ball or making a stroke. In the interest of all, players should play without delay. If you have lost a ball or are for any other reason unable to maintain your place in the field, never hesitate to call the following players through. This is their right and should always be voluntarily and cheerfully given. If this right, when due, is not given after a reasonable opportunity has been given for doing so, it should be demanded in the traditional way by calling “Fore” and then awaiting signal. It is a traditional rule that the following players are called through if they are moving faster, and should always be called if the proceeding players are a fairway’s length ahead. Leave Buggies at the spot most accessible to the next tee. To attend to the flag correctly, stand away at arms length from the hole, being careful not to the damage the area around the hole. Do not stand in anyone’s line. Do not discuss the score on the green, but walk smartly to the next tee, where the player with the honour hits off and then writes down the score. Repair all divots - Sand buckets are provided near the first and tenth tees and members and their visitors are required to carry and use one. Avoid walking or wheeling buggies near areas designated G.U.R. except as necessary to retrieve your ball. Keep buggies off teeing grounds. Plug marks on the putting green should be carefully repaired. Golf carts not to be driven within 10m of green.

5 DRESS REGULATIONS The general criteria which applies is that “NEAT, CLEAN AND TIDY ATTIRE IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES” NOT ALLOWED AT ANY TIME On Course: Thongs, boots metal spikes, bathers, bare feet Clubhouse: Muddy footwear of any type Head wear must be removed whilst in the clubhouse Singlets Bare feet

MANAGEMENT RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY TO THE CLUB

PLEASE AVOID SLOW PLAY If there is a full clear fairway in front of you, your group is too slow, these hints will help: • Don’t delay at your tee if those in front of you are out of range... HIT FIRST AND MARK CARD LATER! • Go to your ball first - be ready to play without delay when it comes to rest. Mark it with some object. • Clean your ball regularly during the game • Leave the green as soon as the hole has been played. MARK CARD LATER!

MATCH PLAY SINGLES AND FOURBALL MATCHES

The player with the lowest handicap will play off scratch. The other player or players will reduce their handicaps accordingly so that the handicap differences between the players remain unchanged. If a match is square after 18 holes, play will continue from the usual starting point - that is from the first hole on the course until a result is obtained. Match play events must be played ON the date set down. The rule may be waived in exceptional circumstances and then only after application to the match committee. Finals MUST be played on the date set down. Matches can be played in conjunction with the daily event. 6 SPECIAL EVENTS METHOD OF PLAY 1. MIXED FOURSOMES Two players play as partners and use one ball. The partners strike off alternately from the tee and thereafter strike the ball alternatively. Ladies play from the first tee red markers, men from the 2nd tee white markers etc.

• Stroke: Scoring is done as for stroke round and the total is subject to a deduction of half the aggregate handicap. Half a stroke counts as one.

• Par or Stableford: Use the men’s card.

• Match Play: Handicap is half the difference of aggregate stroke handicap. Use the men’s card.

2. CANADIAN MIXED FOURSOMES Play as for mixed Foursomes except both players play tee shots at every hole and afterwards continue with whichever ball they nominate. Handicap equals half the aggregate handicap.

3. PINEHURST FOURSOMES Both players play tee shots at each hole then play a second stroke with their partner’s ball. One ball is then selected and play proceeds as in mixed Foursomes with the owner of the ball selected playing the third stroke. Handicap is 3/8 combined handicap.

4. MIXED FOURBALL EVENTS Men take strokes as on the men’s card. Ladies as on the ladies’s card.

5. AMBROSE (Teams of Four) a team Captain is appointed for each four. After all four players have driven (i.e. ball in the best position.) The owner of the selected ball plays first and the other three players drop their ball within a club’s length of the “scoring ball” lay until the “scoring ball” has been holed out. The team handicap is determined by adding the handicaps of all the players and dividing by eight.

7 6. GENTSOMES Each player plays a tee shot at each hole. The captain selects the “preferred” ball, which must be played from where it came to rest. The position of this ball must be marked if played first. Other members of the team, in any order, lift and DROP their ball within one club length of the “preferred ball, not nearer the hole. If the “preferred” ball lands on the green (e.g. Par 3s) players must place their ball as close to the spot as possible. Players then continue to play their own ball until holed out. The captain then marks down the two best Stableford scores for that hole. If the “preferred” ball comes to rest in the rough or in a hazard, other members of the team MUST DROP their ball in the rough or hazard within one club length of the “preferred” ball. Each member of the team must have a minimum of 4 drives. The captain must record the owner of the “preferred” drive for each hole on the card. In the event of a hole in one, that ball may not be the “preferred” ball, although the Stableford score may be used for that hole. The remaining players must play their tee shots and choose the “preferred” ball from those. Play continues as normal to determine the two best scores for the hole.

SAFETY

PLAYERS In the interest of safety to others it is a player’s responsibility to call “fore” should a shot be played that is off it’s intended course and/or is in the danger of hitting other persons.

STAFF The occupational Health and Safety Act 1985 (VIC) requires the Employer to maintain a safe working environment. To help prevent injury to staff from golf balls the procedures are to be followed:

- GREENS When the flag has been removed the green is out of play and golfers must not hit the green until the flag is replaced.

- FAIRWAYS AND ROUGH Golfers must wait for an approaching vehicle to pass behind or out of range before playing their shots. Golfers may be called on to play their shots by the operator. In general when ground staff are within range, golfers must receive acknowledgement from ground staff before playing a shot. N.B. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE PROCEDURES MAY RESULT IN PROSECUTION UNDER THE ABOVE MENTIONED ACT. 8 COUNT BACK PROCEDURE For 18 Hole Events the best score for the last 9 holes ( i.e. holes 10-18) shall be used. If there is still a tie, the last 6 holes or if still tied the last 3 holes. if a tie persists then hole by hole from the 18th.

In 27, 36, 54 and 72 Hole Events, the last 18 holes shall be used and if still tied count back as in above. For a 9 Hole Event, the best score for the last 6 holes shall be used; if there is still a tie, the last 3 holes, if a tie still persists then hole by hole from the 9th hole. • In handicap events, the relevant handicap or fraction thereof shall be applied. • In par or stableford events, the above applies using the par or stableford score. • Where a penalty applicable under the rule 3-5 of the Rules of Golf is applied to a result, this penalty is ignored as far as the count back is concerned.
