East Bay Stonewall Democratic Club Candidate Questionnaire

Thank you for your interest in obtaining an endorsement from the East Bay Stonewall Democratic Club.

Per the Club’s bylaws, to be eligible for endorsement, a candidate must be a registered Democrat. All candidates must also complete this candidate questionnaire to be considered for an endorsement. Endorsements are decided by the general membership, and candidates must receive at least 60% of votes cast to be endorsed. The deadline to return your completed questionnaire to [email protected] is Monday, January 6th at 11:59pm for the January 15, 2020 East Bay Stonewall endorsement meeting for the March 2020 presidential primary election. Any candidate submitting an application after the deadline will not appear on the ballot.

1. Are you a registered Democrat? If so, how long have you been registered as a Democrat? Have you ever been registered with another party and if so, when and for how long? I am registered Democrat. I have been a registered Democrat since 2000.

2. Are you a member of the East Bay Stonewall Democratic Club? If so, for how long? If not, have you participated in club activities, supported or contributed to the Club in some other way? What other lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organizations are you affiliated with and in what capacity? What other non-LGBT Democratic clubs are you affiliated with? I am not a member. I have been instrumental in ensuring The Oakland Pride Breakfast is coordinated.

3. Using specific examples, please identify the causes you have advocated for and the ways you have helped advance LGBT rights or otherwise helped foster a community of inclusivity for LGBT individuals and families. Organized a meet and greet with greater Oakland leaders and Presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg. I am the co-founder of the Oakland Pride Breakfast.

4. Have you previously supported LGBT candidates for office and if yes, did that include financial support? Sacramento Councilman Steve Hansen, State Assemblyman Evan Low, Los Angeles County Accessor Jeff Prang.

5. Who are your LGBT endorsers? Who are your LGBT supporters? Brendalynn Goodall, Lisa Williams.

6. What do you hope to accomplish if you are elected? Please outline your top three policy goals or objectives and how you intend to achieve them. 1) Finding solutions to the students and children that are homelessness; working with community organizational leaders to create programs. 2) Workforce Development. Work with the Assemblyman, community leaders and local elected officials. 3) After School programs. I will work with city leaders to re-establish park and recreation initiatives that focus on academic achievement.

7. What makes you uniquely qualified for the office and how are you different or unique from the other candidates in your race? I have had the honor to work on behalf of the Democratic Party throughout California and in other states across the nation to advocate for Democratic leaders like Governor , Senator , POTUS , LA County Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke, Congressman Adam Schiff and State Treasurer Fiona Ma.
