Therefore, the objective is to replace all existing conventional luminaries with LED fixtures and conventional fans with energy efficient fans in schools across the country, initiating with the Govt. schools. Disseminating awareness amongst school children by way of establishing energy clubs, organizing debates, quiz programs, etc. thereby encouraging participation of young ambassadors in energy efficiency movement. Since school students are the best ambassadors to create awareness, and they not only disseminate information among the relatives and families but make social impact also. Implementation of energy efficiency activities in Government schools is one of the components under State Partnership for Energy Efficiency Demonstrations (SPEED) for which BEE provides financial assistance to the SDAs for undertaking energy efficiency activities at the State level. Financial assistance to SDA released by Bureau of Energy Efficiency for the implementation of EE activities in Govt Schools PEDA in association with Department of School Education Punjab initiated the Punjab State Energy Conservation & Efficiency Campaign and workshops for all the School Principals and Science Teachers / Eco Club Coordinators of High and Senior Secondary School in the state of Punjab on 12th-13th May, 2015 at Jalandhar & Amritsar. This initiative is the first of its kind in the country and unique program to create energy auditors amongst school students, Principals and Teachers With the aim to enhance learning capacity of the students about the energy issues like energy conservation, as well as efficient use of appliances and electricity, Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) in association with Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) in co-ordination with District Education Officers/ District Science Supervisors established 260 no. of “Energy clubs” in the schools in 22 districts of Punjab. The purpose of these clubs is capacity building of students, which will be achieved through awareness programmes that aimed at sensitizing on the relevance and importance of conservation and efficiency In order to further strengthen the 260 energy clubs, PEDA has developed schedule of various extra-curricular activities related to energy conservation and energy efficiency for the school students, the details of which are given as below: Painting / poster making competition Slogan writing competition Debate competitions Fancy Dress competition Essay competitions Energy Conservation awareness rallies Celebration of Energy Conservation week Energy Conservation exhibition Organizing field visits of students to the nearby project sites, green buildings, energy parks etc. for understanding the energy conservation. Performing play on Energy Conservation Methodology and approach for selection of Govt. Schools Govt. High School has been selected from each constituency that falls in the respective districts for implementation of energy efficiency activities in 100 schools through concerned Deputy Commissioners under approved project of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. The selection of schools was finalized by the District Administration in consultation with the District Education Officers. Tarn Taran 4 – 4 Total 103 14 117 Project Execution by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) PEDA has requested concerned District Education officer to arrange the preliminary details of each school. After receiving the details, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) was selected on nomination basis being a joint venture of PSUs under Ministry of Power, GOI for the execution of this project. The maximum limit of quantity for supply & installation of each i.e. LED lamps, LED tubes & BEE 5 star labeled ceiling fan was 50 (Fifty) per school or as per actual requirement whichever is minimum. The scope of work includes disconnecting, removing, securing and storing the existing electrical appliances at the nominated place as decided by the School Authority.
