2019/20 COMMERCIAL SEA CUCUMBER FISHERY ANNOUNCEMENT

Petersburg . . . The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced today the following information concerning the commercial harvest of sea cucumbers in Southeast Alaska during the 2019/20 season.

The following area will be closed for the remainder of the 2019/20 sea cucumber season:

District 12:

Chatham Strait, Wilson Cove, Whitewater Bay, and Chaik Bay (Subdistricts 112-18, 19, 80, and 90).

The following areas will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, 2019:

District 1:

Willard and Fillmore Inlets (Subdistrict 101-11-002);

Revillagigedo Channel and Southern Clarence Strait (Subdistrict 101-21);

George Inlet, Bold Island, and Carroll Inlet (Subdistricts 101-40, 44, 45, 46, and 48);

Tongass Narrows (Subdistrict 101-47);

District 6:

Northern Clarence Strait (Subdistricts 106-10, 20, 22, and 25).

The following areas will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 11, and from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Tuesday, November 12, 2019:

District 1:

East Behm Canal and Smeaton Bay (Subdistricts 101-51 and 55);

Rudyerd Bay, East Behm Canal, and Walker Cove (Subdistricts 101-60, 71, and 73);

District 2:

Clarence Strait and Dixon Entrance (Subdistrict 102-10);

Cholmondeley Sound (Subdistrict 102-40);

District 3:

Bucareli Bay and Port Real Marina (Subdistrict 103-50);

District 9:

Eastern (Subdistrict 109-20);

District 11:

Southern Lynn Canal, East Mansfield Peninsula, and Auke Bay (Subdistrict 111-50);

District 12:

Freshwater Bay and Chatham Strait (Subdistricts 112-12, 13, and 50);

Howard Bay and Couverden Island area (portions of Subdistricts 112-15 and 61 and 114-25);

District 13:

Sitka Sound, Krestof Sound, and Nakwasina Sound (Subdistricts 113-40, 41, 42, and 43).

For a description of the above areas, please refer to the August 27, 2019 sea cucumber fishery news release announcing the open areas and their guideline harvest levels. State offices will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2019 for Veterans Day. The next news release following this opening will be available on Thursday, November 14, 2019.
