Boston University School of Education Institute for Creative Educational Leadership Convening, May 11-12, 2015. Boston, Massachusetts.

Interviewed by the director and producer of the short film “Deterrence” about a forensic social worker and a gang-involved, young, African American male on pretrial probation. My professional experiences in the criminal justice system on similar cases informed the script and directing of the film. “Deterrence” debuted at the Boston Student Film Festival in March of 2014.

 Provided clinical consultation to Public Defense Attorneys in developing approaches to legal defense of indigent clients.  Authored mitigating factor and aid-in-sentencing reports based upon psychosocial interviews and record review to inform judges’ and Assistant District Attorneys’ deliberations on the most just outcome for indigent clients’ cases.  Provided oral, in-court advocacy on behalf of indigent clients.  Assisted Public Defense Attorneys in securing court-ordered behavioral health treatment and accessing public services and resources for indigent clients.  Assisted Public Defense Attorneys through interfacing with providers in the behavioral health, education, criminal justice and social welfare systems on behalf of indigent clients.  Provided all of the above services to young adult clients participating in a special session of the Roxbury District Court called CHOICE focused on helping them succeed in education and job training as an alternative to incarceration.
