    The Hayesbrook School A Brook Learning Trust Academy 1 September 2020 Dear Families Transport to and from the Academy With the return of students to the academy next week, we are aware that some of our families and students may have some concerns regarding transport arrangements to and from school each day. To reassure you, KCC are making every possible effort to ensure all children can travel to school successfully in September and as a result have added a new ‘returning to school using transport’ page to their kent.gov.uk website – this can be found here. This provides useful information about the measures that have been put in place, expectations and requirements of those using transport as well as an informative video. KCC have also asked us to share the attached ‘Active Travel Newsletter’ with our families. We have also received an update from Thameslink Railway informing us that some train services have been changed since March 2020 and there are some small changes planned from Monday 7 September. If your son/daughter uses the train service to and from the academy, please check the current timetable ahead of their return to school – details can be found at: www.nationalrail.co.uk. As we mentioned in our last letter, we see this as a great opportunity for the students and staff of all the schools. Both BLT and LAT will continue to work together, and with the Department for Education (DfE) and Kent County Council (KCC), to ensure that increased size and scale, and the sharing of expertise and opportunities, will be of the greatest benefit to students and staff of BLT if the academies transfer as planned. Recent discussions with LAT have focused on practical changes that can be made for September 2021 to allow BLT’s academies to more closely align with LAT’s, in order that staff can have an even greater impact on our students’ learning and subsequently their progress.     The Hayesbrook School A Brook Learning Trust Academy 26 June 2020 Dear Year 11 Students It felt important to put something together to mark the end of Year 11. In years past we have held an end of year assembly, celebrating students’ journey through the school, plenty of pictures showing students all much younger. These assemblies were full of laughs and cheers! This year I had already started planning, but because of circumstances this opportunity has been sadly taken from us. But instead you have the next best thing, my thoughts as your Head of Year along with thoughts and stories from your tutors and teachers. Year 11, what a fantastic group! On that first day in September 2015, I noticed how worried some of you were as you entered the school on your first day. Most of you took it in your stride, ready and confident for this new challenge. If you had older brothers in the school that helped, they were able to look out for you and show you the ropes. You were polite, and always said “Good Morning”, you made the teachers smile and comment on how polite you were. As you moved up the school friendship groups built up quickly, and some of them are still there today. I hope they will continue when you join our Sixth form or leave to continue your journey elsewhere. Many of you had your own areas that you liked to frequent, you were to be found in the canteen, or in the table tennis area. Others were on the Muga playing football, others playing basketball under the hoops.
