In 1987, Roland Cohen, head of the city’s youth commission, 2012 Champion Jean Paul Burgi, enthusiast educator and Louis Piana, first // R.C. LENS sponsor of Neuville football club joined efforts to organize the first tournament. Those three football enthusiasts probably never thought they would meet again in 2012 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the event.
It is said athletes reach their performance pick around 25. You could say the same about Neuville’s football international tournament. For years now, sport leaders, coaches, sponsors, volunteers and players have contributed to this international sport event, bringing together the finest of European and French football teams young players.
For 25 years, generations of talented players competed on our soccer fields, some of them becoming 2012 finalist worldwide stars. For any of this to happen, men and // BENFICA LISBONNE women have been giving without restraint their time, energy and enthusiasm for this popular and educative sport. We are grateful to every one of them, for they allowed this high quality sport event to happen and be a joyful celebration of youth and friendship.
Since it was created, this tournament gained an international fame (thanks to web reputation).In the coming years, Neuville could host teams from Brazil, Africa and Qatar, already willing to participate in the 2013 edition of the tournament. What about you?
