  • 2016 Cadillac ELR Advances with More Power, Technology
2016 Cadillac ELR Advances with More Power, Technology Oshawa, Ontario (Wednesday, April 22, 2015) – General Motors continues to expand its position as the Canadian leader in plug-in electric vehicle sales with the announcement that the new 2016 model year Cadillac ELR electrified luxury coupe will offer a host of upgrades, including boosts in acceleration, driving performance and connectivity. “ELR’s combination of leading technology with remarkable design is unlike any other coupe in the luxury segment,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “For the upcoming model year our engineers have upgraded ELR, enhancing its driving performance for buyers seeking uncompromising luxury with electrification technology.” Distinguished by a new grille and Cadillac’s new crest, the ELR features the first application of extended-range electric vehicle technology by a full-line luxury automotive brand. Pricing for the 2016 ELR will be announced at a later date. The ELR will be eligible for provincial incentives from the provinces of Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia. ELR continues to offer Regen on Demand, recipient of Green Car Journal’s 2014 Green Car Technology Award. Enhanced for the 2016 model to improve deceleration, Regen on Demand allows the driver to temporarily regenerate energy from the ELR’s momentum into electricity and store in the battery pack for later use. The ELR offers a full driving range that combines pure electric driving and an efficient, range-extending 1.4L gasoline-powered engine-generator. It’s a combination that means most daily commutes will require zero gasoline with zero tailpipe emissions. Longer trips are free from electric-vehicle range anxiety because the ELR’s technology enables long-distance travel similar to vehicles powered only by a gasoline engine.

This bulletin will expire at the end of the involved vehicle's New Vehicle Limited Warranty period. PURPOSE This bulletin provides a service procedure to inspect and, if necessary, replace the battery current sensor on certain 2013 model year Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban; GMC Yukon, Yukon XL; 2013-2014 model year Chevrolet Captiva, Captiva Sport; and 2014 model year Chevrolet Silverado and Sierra vehicles. An incorrect battery current sensor may have been installed on the negative battery cable assembly. This could cause an incorrect reading of the battery state of charge, resulting in under charging of the battery. This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage period. VEHICLES INVOLVED All involved vehicles are identified by VIN in the Global Warranty Management System – Investigate Vehicle History Application. Dealership technicians should always check this site to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs. It is important to routinely use this tool to verify eligibility because not all similar vehicles may be involved regardless of description or option content.

Condition/Concern A dealer may notice a red OnStar LED and DTCs B1446 or B1447 for OnStar back-up battery failure in the VCIM. Recommendation/Instructions Do NOT disconnect the main vehicle battery or remove the OnStar fuse with the ignition key in any position other than OFF. 1 Retained accessory power (RAP) should be allowed to time out or be canceled (simply opening the driver’s door should cancel RAP) before disconnecting power. Disconnecting power to the OnStar module in any way while the ignition is ON or with RAP activated may cause activation of the OnStar Back-Up Battery (BUB) system, which will permanently discharge the back-up battery.

Bulletin No.: PIC6086B Date: Sep-2016 Subject: Oily Substance On Windshield Leaking From Moisture Sensor Models: 2013 -2016 Cadillac ATS 2016 Cadillac ATS-V 2014 - 2016 Cadillac CTS Sedan (VIN A) 2013 - 2016 Cadillac XTS 2015 Cadillac Escalade Models 2013 - 2016 Cadillac SRX 2014 - 2016 Cadillac ELR 2015 - 2016 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe 2015 - 2016 GMC Yukon Models 2013 - 2016 Buick Encore With Rain Sense (RPO CE1) (RPO CEC for SRX only) This PI was superseded to add Models. Please discard copies of PIC6086A. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition/Concern Some customers may comment that an oily substance is found on the inside windshield surface and appears to be leaking from the rear view mirror area. Recommendation/Instructions The oil/fluid is from the gel pad of the moisture sensor, the oil/fluid can separate and leak due to heat loads. The sensor should only leak one time and leakage will not affect the performance of the sensor. Note: Only 1 gram of oil is used in the sensor – so the leak will be minimal. As such, driver visibility will not be impacted. Inspect the moisture sensor for being the source of the leak, If found to be leaking, carefully remove the moisture sensor by gently rocking the sensor in the bracket and pulling down with constant pressure. Important: Use care to avoid touching the gel of the moisture sensor. Using excessive force to remove may cause the gel to separate from the sensor. Any sensor that experiences gel separation should be replaced.
