November, 2018 Abstract Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) represent a profoundly new dimension to our congested, environmental- hazardous and silo-based transportation systems. Along with rapidly advances in new technologies, travel modes and attitudes, are also the academic world in a rush to put words on this new transportation phenomenon. While the diffusion of MaaS still remains an unresolved puzzle, our research aims to contribute with how some of the pieces fit together. As the true power of MaaS is yet to materialise, our research have been lifted out of the physical sphere, and into a hypothetical one. On a foundation of past literature and interviews with local experts, has thus provided the breeding grounds for a stated preference survey. In order to keep our research relatable to objects found in the real world, three hypotheses were created on how central elements of MaaS, influence decision making of our modal portfolios in the daily commute. Research on the viability and development of MaaS in the laboratory environment of Copenhagen, this identified a forth hypothesis, revolving how recombinant of transport related data can form new attributes that influence our choice of the modal portfolio. The research does, in contrary to our literature review, identify students as an important research subject, due to their shifting travel behaviour and role in the future of mobility. Our findings provide clear evidence for how MaaS and its underlying service provisions, does influence choices the daily commute. In order to explore the sustainability potentials of such initiatives, it is vital to understand (1) why consumers are accepting and joining these initiatives and (2) how they perceive the sustainability potentials of initiatives’ offers. In order to correctly estimate the sustainability potential of the initiatives, one should consider possible negative sustainability impacts as well as rebound effects alongside all the positive sustainability effects. Moreover, studies on social innovations for sustainable consumption have mostly been conducted in the context of the Global North. This paper focuses on studying and understanding the current situation of social innovations for sustainable consumption and its sustainability potentials in Tehran, Iran. A qualitative explorative study was conducted using desk research as well as semi-structured in-depth interviews with Iranian consumers. The results of this study confirm the existence of growing supply and demand trends for such initiatives in Iran. Among the different initiatives, those that are copies of international companies or offering alternative mobility solutions seem to have more chances for diffusion, as consumers are more motivated to use their offers.

This article presents a reflection on the impact and challenges that it generates nationally and internationally as an economic model of current consumption. The analysis is carried out through the results of the discussion document “Retos y posibilidades de la economía colaborativa en América Latina y el Caribe” (Buenadicha, Cañigueral and De León, 2017), through a qualitative design for performing interpretative descriptions. The delivered results show that this economic model, although it has regulatory limitations, basically as regards competition between companies; labor relations within the platforms; fiscal obligations, the protection of users and situations which occur in a digital environment, includes relevant aspects that favor progress and better conditions that lead people to live more peacefully; given that it affects factors that facilitate some everyday processes and tends to generate better living conditions.     Ride-hailing Demand Elasticity: A Regression discontinuity Method ∗ Hosein Joshaghani , Seyed Ali Madanizadeh†, and Reza Moradi‡ September 16, 2020 Abstract Using the unique pricing method of Tapsi, the second-largest ride-hailing company in Iran, we estimate the price elasticity of demand for Tapsi rides. Tapsi mechanically divides Tehran, the largest city of Iran, into 256 regions using a 16×16 matrix of straight lines, to implement surge pricing to excess regional demand or supply. Surge multiplier works for all ride requests within each region, independent of supply and demand in neighboring regions or rides characteristics. We exploit this sharp discontinuity in pricing by running a regression discontinuity to estimate the causal effect of the price change on the number of ride requests, i.e., price elasticity of demand. Using information of more than 10 million unique ride requests, we estimate not only average price elasticity, but also price elasticity at different levels of surge multiplier. Moreover, we measure price elasticity for 1-hour and 6-hour horizons and estimate the price elasticity of -0.25 and -0.54 for each horizon, respectively. This can be explained by the fact that in longer horizons, customers can more easily choose alternative modes of transport. This finding supports the very fundamental economic principle of higher elasticities in the long-run than in the short-run.
